So imagine the shock when Gabe Newell opened up to fans who gathered at Valve HQ to celebrate his birthday, freely admitting that the company has a next gen engine in the pipeline.

Considering that files in Source Film Maker alluded to "Source 2", it all adds up. There's Valve Time to consider, sure, but we may very well get an official glimpse at the new engine soon enough. And hey, with a brand new engine, maybe we'll get some hints about "Ricochet 2" as well.
You know, you gotta love Gabe. Sure, he may have pushed hats on an unsuspecting public, and he may play our heartstrings like a fiddle, but this was an awfully nice gift to give on his birthday. You see, he really does care!
