That's not too far and I haven't seen many details.
I can't understand why Edgeworth 2 ain't out yet. I hope it does come out.

CapCom said that they had no plans of localizing AAI2 at all on DS. We won't be seeing it any time soon.

However, we haven't heard anything about a localization of this game, but I think we will see one because Professor Layton does sell well here.

They said they'd consider releasing it digitally depending on the sales of AA HD Collection on the iOS.

Then again, didn't they do something similar with MM Legends 3?

Yeah, this is great news. Now they can get to work on the english localization.
All this Layton and Ace Attorney news is just depressing. The english-speaking 3DS fans need some love too. :( And no, nsmb2 doesn't cut it.

Didn't that game sell poorly in Japan?

If they couldn't move units there, they probably don't think the hassle of localization is worth it.

Yes there is a possibility especially since the game play change did not impress many. They were very edgy and felt it was not worthy too... must be the Gahar's syndrome.

What are you talking about? AAI2 sold extremely well in Japan. Problem is that declining sales figure from Western market (with AA4 and AAI sold poorly here in US/Europe). Visual novel isn't exactly a big hitter in Western market.

Not according to this article, at least. That's not awful, but that isn't exactly selling extremely well either.

In all likelihood, it's probably a mix of both factors that went into Capcom's decision not to localize the game.

You can't exactly compare that sales figure to AAI2. When AA first came out in Japan as GBA, its sales figure for the first week is 58,877.

AAI2 sales figure is also for the first week, 132,000.

The first week sales of the original AAI was 172,000. That's a drop off of 40,000 (roughly 25%) between two games.

Plus, the sales for the original game are irrelevant here. You're just moving the goalpost, so to speak.

I think one thing that went against the AAI2 being translated and published outside of Japan was the timing more than anything, it was the time the DS was beginning to wind down and the 3DS was starting up in life. Still either way it was Capcom's decision and they decided no, sums it up well enough for me

I misread, thought it was a combined sales figure for AA. Sorry about that. 132,000 sales figure isn't exactly medicore though.

Like I said, the sales aren't awful by any means. Still, a drop off like that isn't encouraging, and would give Capcom another reason to avoid (or maybe just put off) localizing the game.
