Finally after months of waiting on a TaoBao order my black unit arrived.(PID 00610603)
Unlike the unit in Another Worlds review it comes with both the missing stickers, the shell also lacks the small bump near the start button.

Compared to my battle worn AGS-001 the k1 feels slightly lighter and the plastics of a softer and thinner quality. Buttons are somewhat clunky but may wear in over time.
The PSU is junk that needs adapter and is now in the bin an official charger fits in and charges fine but does not lock in as nice and tight as it does my old SP.
Holding Start and Select at boot does not give that familiar jingle
Overall the unit is cosmetically a good attempt if you can get past the few niggles mentioned.

Looking forward to testing K1-GC & PC linker
Would you be willing to test out some more Gameboy Color roms on it? I'm not too concerned about the GBA but since I can't find any decent GB flashcarts and I don't like converting GBC roms to play in Goomba I figured this might be alright.

This is the first that I've heard that the screen is actually slightly taller than the standard gba sp.

I just figured that they bought up a ton of gba sp replacement shells and put the hardware into that, but I guess not.

i'm not sure if you just have an issue with the few minutes it takes to use the goomba tools or if you were under the impression that the tools are actually changing the rom in some way? the tools just pack the roms with the emulator and give it a .gba extension so you can boot it. they did this because there was no file browsing on the gba, not like we are use to on the nds.

Now i plan to buy a supercard DSTWO for use on DSIXL , anyone tried megaman with DSTWO and can give me any feedback??
I want to fully enjoy the games without some shiity sound and crappy button
I wouldn't bother man. I had a SuperCard DSTwo that I just sold in the past couple weeks just because the GBA and SNES emulation are complete and total BS. If you can't deal with the sound irregularities on the K1, the imperfection of the emulation on the SuperCard DSTwo is MUCH worse. The only games I've played that are halfway-playable on the SuperCard DSTwo are Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission. That's it.

Since the k1 uses a hacked version of Goomba I would expect compatibility to be the same.

some more points:
Just spent another 10mins messing with the k1 and although its louder than a SP the speaker doesn't seem to be that great and can distort when over half volume, it shouldn't be too hard to upgrade but ideally they would add a max volume setting.
Looking closer at the shell the shoulder buttons are shorter and sit more flush
Not all roms are capable of returning to menu (steel battalion) using *+L

isn't that a 32mb game? no 32mb games can use the in-game menu, 32mb is the maximum allocated memory size leaving no room for the in-game menu patch. however, you can run cheats and stuff on those games, just hold A on the game and select config before booting it.

as for the speaker, i've been playing all types of music at full volume and i don't hear any distorting. the same for games.

u serious? awwww I just decided to buy DSTwo but after hearing what u said I decide to think about it again, I've been using my K1 for 2 days, the button is hard, but I heard that K1 can emulate some "hard to emulate" games, is that true? Kingdom heart or golden sun right?

Which Mega Man game did you have in mind? Because if you're talking about the Mega Man Zero games, there's a "Mega Man Zero Collection" for DS that puts all 4 GBA games onto one DS cart. You can grab that if you want, and it's got a couple cool features, too.

I wasn't using the apps that took advantage of onboard RAM (SNES and GBA emulators) because they just didn't work that well, and the DSTwo's onboard ram is always running as long as the DS is on, and the SuperCard is inserted into the slot. This sucks up TONS of battery power and, even on sleep mode without using it all day on a full charge, just keeping the SuperCard in the slot killed the battery in about 3-4 hours. I figured I'm better off getting an EZ Flash VI that way I don't have to worry about taking the cart out whenever I'm done.

I will personally wait for the second generation, the more dingoo style device looks better.
For me a portable unit with no headphone connection is a showstopper. And yes, I know that you can get an adaptor, but I don't own one nor it's provided with the unit, what were they thinking??

The reason I'm interested in the K101 over my CAANOO is the promise of perfect emulation of traditionally hard-to-emulate at full speed with sound games like Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Golden Sun, Tony Hawk, etc.

I do not agree with you.

Though there is no headphone on K1, it is still a very good emulation device for GBA. I think people who get it should know how good game compatibility it has. It is different from the flash card and other MP4 retro handhelds. It is hardware clone.

I think people here who love GBA SP will feel it hard to forget its design. I think that is the meaning which the manufacture need to make K1 the same designs with the original GBA. But now it is hard to get the original GBA.

The purpose why K1 should be made is to offer people who love GBA games can cherish their childhood memory on playing GBA. The most important thing for K1 is try to emulator all GBA games- it is very near but not 100%. That is what the manufacture is thinking。

For K101, it is still not available. I am sorry that I can not tell you more details on its exact releasing day as the manufacture is trying their best to test it these days. We will release it until it really meet our demand. Remember we are making products more like a gamer not a seller!

One thing I can tell you is that K101 did have a very good game compatibility. Take this game" Rhythm Tengoku" for example, It runs very very good on K101.( I love this game so much!)- Is there any body know this game or love it? You can try this games on other emulator handhelds or flash card. I think most of them can not run it very fruently.

Rhythm Tengoku is a japanese only game isn't it?
