Fighting Games: At first the were copying street fighter but now its Smash Bros.
Racing Games: ALL OF THEM COPY MARIO KART! well maybe not all of them but most off them do
Party Games: Now some of them are a little original (examples: spongebob: lights camera pants,my sims party, tamagotchi party on) but most of them have the same rules and/or interface but at least to compensate some of them have original minigames that makes you care less about that its a rip-off

You could say that any game is a rip off of any other game.
Halo is a ripoff of James Bond
Ninja Gaiden is a rip off of God of War.
Adventure Island is a rip off of Super Mario Brothers.
Fighting games are all still like "street fighter" because games in that category follow the PvP rule.
To my knowledge there is one game like SSB and its not even out yet.

Things like this work out this way. The term rip off is overused and misused.
Pop music sounds the same becuase its all pop music.
Metal sounds the same because its metal.
etc etc etc.

Whats your point?

Not true, it seems like that but I can think of two very original titles. I've seen one game like Super Smash Brothers but it looks like crap (Playstation Allstars. But a few games have built upon Mario Kart and made it better. In the gaming industry inspiration comes from everywhere, and with the amount of games some are bound to have similarities.
Split Second Velocity (Amazing) was original.

Also, something you need to keep in mind is that Japan is a different place than america or anywhere else in the world.
"stealing" someones idea or whatever, is a compliment. Its something used to push along new media and show appreciation for someone elses work.

Split Second is something i love because it take two generas or ideas and combines them.

Oh i thought of another example
All noob topics are the same.

Stupid.
So every single fighter is copying street fighter?
Was street fighter even the first fighter? Nope 'Heavyweight Champ' was. So every fighter is copying that game huh?
Street Fighter = Tekken? nope
Street Fighter = Mortal Kombat? nope
Street Fighter = Naruto ULS? nope
Gaming is becoming hipster. OMFG I LIKED THAT BEFORE IT COOL, NOW EVERYONES COPYING IT. ITS SO MAINSTREAM NAO ;O;
Mario Kart = Forza? nope
Mario kart = Burnout? nope
Mario Kart = Split Second? nope

This whole copying shit is really annoying. Poorly constructed arguments between fanboys of different companies.

Gran Turismo plays exactly like Mario Kart. It's crazy.

This thread is the exact opposite of promising.

Mario invented everything!!!! Throw him in the dungeon!!! lol

Great now I have this picture in my head of Mario in one of those Kim Jong Il posters.... lol

In addition to this point, I'm sure the racing genre existed before Mario Kart.
eeeeh i dont think so. Mario Kart INVENTED racing.

Mario invented everything!!! Throw him in the dungeon!!! lol

Great now I have this image in my head of Mario as Kim Jong Il....

HEY GUILD, I'M REAL HAPPY FOR YOU AND IMMA LET YOU FINISH, BUT NEED FOR SPEED UNDERGROUND 2 WAS THE BEST MARIOKART RIPOFF OF ALL TIME

What with the car customization and the free roam and random encounter races and in-game SMS and all that jazz.

Holy generalizations, Batman!

I bet you think that all platformers copy Mario titles, and that every FPS is a DOOM ripoff.

Not this again. First if mario kart was the first kart game, i don't know... but then came some konami all star kart game? wacky wheels (if it wasn't before mario kart) was a ripoff of mario kart... there weren't that many kart games, and it basically copied the aesthetics.. but now it has become a genre of it's own and even though they are somewhat the same, it's no longer any unique game "owning" the karting genre.

same with the normal beat em ups, fighting games etc.

this is all my opinion. But yeah, after a few locked topics about this cirkle debate, I find it unnecessary to keep making threads about it.

LOL! The Mario Kart series is in dire need of SMS. You know, something to excite all the people who were disenfranchised with the same-ol same-ol. Hell, I was so pissed that Mario Kart 7 didn't let you unlock neon underbody.

As a serious aside (-_q), NFS:Underground was a knock-off of the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. They were like, 'this is a good idea, let's make it palatable to Americans with no attention span." Not to say the Underground games are bad; I actually think they are pretty good, but for the fact that I get bored halfway through, like nearly every EA or Rockstar free-roam game.

Okay I made this thread to give out an opinion ,not to start debates and arguments. first of all I said "it seems" "it is or i know". what im saying is that there are too many rip-offs and not enough games that at least try to separate them selves from other games (im looking at you tamagotchi party on but in a good way this time) and plus these are my opinions so the only one who should care about them is me I just want to see who agrees with me and doesn't agree with me. and I want constructive criticism without swearing or bad language

On another note, I wish we got more borderline rip-offs. Like I never liked any of the Zelda games past the point of, " *2nd dungeon* Oh hey, this is kinda fun. *5th dungeon* Oh hey, this is kinda repetitive and can't grasp my interest any longer." But when I played Okami it was like, "OMG FLOWERS SPROUTING EVERYWHERE AND EXPLODING FIREWORKS AND wait was that the Zelda 'secret found' sound effect? OMG I SLASHED THAT DEMON IN HALF WHABAMM!!!!" Okami is kind of like Zelda for people with no attention span.

edit: I take that back, Okami IS Zelda for people with no attention span. "OK, now to simply walk down this road towards that little village, and HEY THAT TREE HAS NO CHERRY BLOSSOMS, ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAPP!!!! SUPER SPRING FESTIVAL GO!!!!!"

After reading your opening post, i disagree with you.

You needed to word your opening post a lot more differently.

The examples you gave didn't make sense.
