After three Resistance titles, Insomniac boss Ted Price has announced that the developer will no longer be making Resistance games.

The franchise originally debuted on the Playstation 3 as a launch title as "Resistance: Fall of Man". It was then followed by two sequels and a spin off for the PSP. Recently, a new Resistance game, Resistance: Burning Skies, has been announced for the Playstation Vita under the development of Nihilistic Software.

"We've done Resistance 3 and we're really into it and proud of it, but we're not currently slated to do a Resistance 4. So it would be hard to say it's any kind of lynchpin within Insomniac. I think we're thriving and branching out in a lot of different directions," Price said on the future of Insomniac.

On the future of the franchise, he added, "We've got a lot of different places for the universe to go, so I could certainly see the series going to another developer. I'm sure Sony would want to find a high caliber developer to do a good offering. I don't think they'd hand the franchise over to somebody who is going to screw it up."

Insomniac has also taken a similar step with their first major franchise, Spyro the Dragon, developing three games in the series before passing the torch to various other developers and publishers.

Recently Insomniac announced Overstrike, their first multiplatform game as well as their first non-Playstation exclusive game ever.

Hopefully this means they will put more attention into Ratchet and Clank.

Doubtful, their last Ratchet and Clank game wasn't received very well and I think they're moving on. Overstrike may be their latest franchise. Kinda like how Naughty Dog is probably finished with Uncharted and moving on to The Last of Us.

All 4 One was more of a spin-off and a one time thing.
It's not the first time the series has had a game do badly.
I hope that the wait for the next game isn't too long though.
I don't want to have to wait 5 years for it.

YES. More new IP from Insomniac please.

As for R&C(my fav series), I hope it will continue, but with lesser games.1 masterpiece(like 3 or ACiT for example) per generation and I'm fine.

Well, I can appreciate that they want to move on and try new things. I can't wait to see where they go from here.

there is 2 reasons why their series failed.

1: don't try to rip off gamers with online passes, they need to realize no one is going to buy their mediocre game with online taken away if you buy it used.

2: regardless if they removed the online pass their game is still mediocre and boring, i've never been interested in any of their games in the series and i doubt i will be missing them either, good riddance.

First off, the series certainly didn't fail. They received good sales and good reviews.

1: Only Resistance 3 had an online pass.

2: Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and everyone's outside of mine smell like shit.

Oh lord, learn from Spyro, LEARN! DON'T LET IT BE HANDED OFF!
THIS! Vicarious/Vivendi murdered and castrated Spyro. I managed to play that glitchy excuse for a game known as Enter the Dragonfly. When I finished it, I just thought "Damn they killed off the series!" :(

All the best for Insomniac and Naughty Dog. Those two companies contributed to my memorable and awesome childhood and hope they make awesome IPs.

GBA Spyros and A Hero's Tail were very good.

Same for the GBA Crash games and Twinsanity.

Wrath of Cortex, CNK and Enter The Dragonfly were just mediocre rip offs of the original entries, while the reboots (Legend of Spyro / Titans and Mutants) were shit.

IDK Skylanders.Reviews are good but I haven't play any version. From what I've seen, it has nothing to do with Spyro.

Other companies should learn from Insomniac, rather than milking a franchise, they created a nice little trilogy. They should let Ratchet and Clank die too, create new IPs! (Won't say anything about Nintendo milking their franchises, those are their only legs to survive for another 10 years or so)

A Crack in Time is completely new and different from previous games;if they still have great ideas (and ACiT proves that they have), they can carry on with the series without milk. Just make less R&C(one every generation is enough) but with polishing and new ideas at the maximum level.

I don't want them to drop the series because they surely won't do another platform 3d IP.

3 games in the future series (one was short dlc game though) and 1 spin off
3 for the ps2 with 1 spin off
1 for the psp with 1 spin off
