Looking forward to this! Do you plan on using the same UI (and navigation improvements) as Snes9x RX?

What about the music, though? I checked, and there are audio tracks on the original game (contrary to Andro Dunos, for example).

Does that mean the "rom" they released is incompatible with MVS/AES hardware and/or emulator, due to some compressed music being in it, or maybe does it play without music?
I never played the game extensively to compare it, so not sure if there is music missing. I might play it one of these days just to know for sure. Wasn't that the case with the Crossed Swords conversion to MVS/AES?

Maybe, just maybe, i'll retry it in the future.

Here is what Razoola posted at the time of release of the MVS/AES release:

"Audio changes.

Taken music from Crossed Swords 1 as no complete music (with samples) available.
New Attract mode background music.
New background music for title page after inserting a coin.
New background music on all game play levels.
New background music for battle mode bonus count screens.
Stopped background music on bonus counts and before shop for smoother transitions.
Slightly delayed shop music start to make overall game flow better.
Adjusted attract mode character graphic timing slightly to match attract mode music better.
Shortened attract mode title page dislay time to account for shorter music.
Synced 'game over' graphic timing to match the new game over jingle.
Removed static popping mostly after FM sounds stop playing.
Removed static popping sounds in some back ground music (noticable in tune 0x14 and 0x1F).
Track 0x0C now uses a different sample to make it sound better."

The rom I have for the MVS/AES conversion doesn't work on my RetroArch HEXAeco FB Alpha Neo VM core though. Does it work on Wii?

Also, I didn't know that it was converted by Razoola, the creator of the Universe BIOS.

Interesting notes. So it was Razoola that converted it, the hacker that we owe CPS-2 and CPS-3 emulation. Is that the only one or did he do more?

Cool, I'll look for another rom.
I didn't use that SD for years, but I just did, and yes, the converted game plays okey. So he worked around the lack of music by reusing the one for the first game and also adjusted it, pretty creative. So that's a good reason to keep playing the NGCD exclusive.

Yeah, I'll definitely be emulating the Neo Geo CD version aswell.
Post automatically merged:

I take it the emulator will support the Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro?

I've been finishing the NeoCD RX manual. A heads up for those that want to prepare their games for the impending release, I have an in-depth section prepared already, but here's the shortest steps to prepare every CD game to play:

  • 1- Create a folder with the name of the game, or whatever you want to identify it.
  • 2- On your PC, put your game on the disc drive, or mount your already made virtual CD image. Now, copy ALL the files inside the CD, to the previously made folder.
  • 3- Use the MP3 CD ripping software of your preference, at this point in time there's surely 200 free options available. Encode with a minimum of 128kbps or higher.
  • 4- Name every single ripped track by their original order, beginning with the name "Track02.mp3", and so on.
  • 5- Inside the folder of the game, create another folder called "mp3". Copy all the ripped and renamed MP3 files in there.
  • 6- DONE! You're ready to play. You will later copy/move all the game folders you prepared to "\NeoCDRX\games".
Quick sample:
/NeoCDRX/games/Metal Slug 2/ <------------- all the game data goes HERE
/NeoCDRX/games/Metal Slug 2/mp3/ <----- all the MP3 files go HERE

Each game folder functions as a virtual CD for the emulator. Can't be easier.
