On another forum, a guy did an analysis of the tech in Wind Waker. Suffice to say, it was very interesting.

    That's quite interesting.
By the way, haven't played this game yet.

Well, both the Gamecube's PowerPC 750CXe-based PowerPC CPU and GPU were quite powerful for the time.

You really should, it's a great game. A bit boring and slow at the beginning, mainly because of all the sailing you're forced to do, but then it quickly becomes great and easily my second favorite Zelda game.

I love cell shading, but i havent played this one yet. Link's IK feet to the ground blows me away.

That guy is really observant. Lots of details that almost made me cringe thinking about all the work Nintendo puts into their games without realizing we will ever appreciate/observe
    it this much.

I wouldn't touch Wind Waker with a 10-foot long pole with a rag at the end for added protection. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask showed us how a 3D LoZ game should look like, Twillight Princess perfected that look by making it slightly gritty. Wind Waker just stands out like a sore thumb and it left its imprint on both Spirit Tracks and The Phantom Hourglass due to platform limitations. While it's understandable on the DS, it wasn't on the Gamecube and as much as I admire the cel shading, I do not care for the character design in this one. The cartoony stain can still be seen in Skyward Sword, even though it went back to the roots with its overall look...

I really hated it back when it was brand new and I'm not amazed by it now. I guess you gotta try out a game before you judge it, but as a non-hardcore Zelda fan, I sincerely don't feel the need to. A Link to the Past on the other hand... now that's a game I enjoyed thoroughly!

I'm actually quite serious and I realize that I'm judging a book by its cover, but I treat Wind Waker as a stain upon the entire series and I am not alone in this opinion.

Is anyone alone on any opinion?

    Also
I know it's not a troll post because of this. A troll wouldn't say that... probably.

It's funny, I find Twilight Princess to be the stain of the series. Nothing about that game was appealing to me at all. It was everything but a Zelda game.

It's my second favorite Zelda game, too. What's your first? Mine's Majora's Mask.

PS: Personally, I really liked the sailing. I feel like all the islands made the world and side quests feel much more integrated, and you didn't have to go around looking for them because you just stumbled upon them. Kind of like Majora's Mask, but without the time limit. And I know this is sort of cheating, but whenever I went sailing, i just aimed myself in the right direction, and took a minute break to get a snack or check facebook while I waited to get to my destination. :P
I liked Twilight Princess, but I also felt it was the least memorable of the 3D titles. It basically just felt like Ocarina of Time 2 (with a bit of aLttP's plot and MM's dark themes thrown in), but grittier and self-important. In short, I feel like it took itself too seriously for its own good.

    6. Red Dead: Redemption
    7. Oblivion
    8. A Link to the Past/ Oracle of Ages/ Oracle of Seasons/ Link's Awakening

Thanks for the link. It'll be the first game booted up in the "Companion Cube". My friend and I used to play it all the time.

Wind Waker was HARDLY a stain on the series; it could have been a lot worse, as seen here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE-IoRk1qgk

Are your eyes and ears bleeding yet? I think I've proven my point. This is the real stain on the series.

That game wasn't made by Nintendo, Mah Boy! Most people don't even treat it as a legitimate LoZ game. :P

Like I said, I don't like the aesthetics of Wind Waker - it's personal more than anything.

Eh I didn't see anything wrong with Wind Waker but I didn't find it as fantastic as people claim it was. I still found Twilight Princess better.

This thread has devolved into a discussion about the tech/care put into Wind Waker into a discussion about how the cel shading sucks.

    >Zelda

Wind Waker isn't a stain on the series. Not at alllll. The cel-shaded graphics are just beautiful.

Zelda doesn't have to be gritty to look good. To think so is foolish.
