Gave this a try. I got it to boot into the Saturn menu, but no matter what game I try I get the message "Game is not suitable on this sysstem...". I tried four different bios files of different regions and different Isos.

Anyone any idea?

Try to use only .iso/.bin rom with corresponding bios (US game with US bios, for example), and when a "Game is not suitable on this system" appers, press '—' and hit Reset button.

Reset after choosing an ISO did it. Thanks!

Are you able to change the button configuration? When prompted to press a button nothing happens.

Lol nobody wants to pay $1000 for some other mobile device.

Yeah, if you're lazy and can't get a job that will allow you to buy a lot of things you can still afford if you're still stuck in your parents' house!

Thankfully, a lot of people are high enough on the competence hierarchy to provide for themselves!

You don't know anything about my financial situation. But again nobody would want to pay $1000 just to play a saturn emulator you have to be a complete moron to even suggest it.

You probably waste the money you have and actual are the one living in your mom's basement if you'd pay $1000 for a saturn emulator.

I don't care what you say unless you're making like 100k a year or more $1000 counts and I highly doubt you're bringing in that kind of money. You don't seem all that smart.

The stimulus given to all Americans that's supposed to support them is $1200. So miss me with that pretending $1000 is nothing.

Actually, all things considered, $1,000 is nothing, and there's more you can do with it than just play Saturn games. It just so happens that, if you want a portable emulation solution to play Saturn games, you're gonna have to either settle for a laptop, or go with something else running Windows for the best performance and compatibility. You could help and try to develop an open source Saturn emulator as opposed to anything that's tied to RetroArch.

But let's be real, you aren't going to do that, because you're more cuck than Chad!

Well he said no thanks so I guess you were wrong, shocking. He also called it ridiculous. So just maybe, it was ridiculous in the first place exactly like I said.

A freaking PS5 won't even cost near that, utterly ridiculous.

Maybe he did, but I'm gladly buying one of these!

All I'm saying is, you get what you pay for in life. You can either be stuck getting fucked over by the closed ecosystems of consoles, or be able to do whatever the fuck you want with a PC that can do more than what even a Switch could dream of!

I seriously hope you're joking here, because otherwise this is the most blatant product placement I've seen yet. Good to see people willing to play as GPD's unpaid marketing interns.
Hate to break it to ya, but if you're spending $1k on something of that size, you may as well get an actual laptop and a controller for cheaper - because it might as well be the same darn thing. Also not taking into consideration the maintenance required with a Windows PC, drivers, multiple game launchers, gamepad support being iffy, and needing to go full Low-Spec Gamer for anything AAA you want to play. At least the Switch has developers dedicated to doing that for you, and being significantly more convenient in general.
It's also paying massive disrespect to the homebrew developers who work their asses to make the Switch the best possible all-in-one brew/emulation system around, without expecting anything in return. Considering the thing can play everything up through and including enhanced-resolution Dreamcast and PSP without a sweat, alongside the homebrew and commercial ports coming out every other day... well, what else did you expect to hear from the Nintendo Switch forums?

ANYWAYS, back on topic,
Sega Saturn's a real bitch. You pretty much need the better utilization of hardware in L4T, and even then it won't perform great simply due to the inherent challenges emulating the chipset of the Saturn. I won't expect miracles here. If you're looking to play Saturn... yeah, buy a PC, or wait for some out-of-left-field breakthrough from the Sega community. Iunno.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
