I loved the dub, it gets better as you go on, but you have to have the drive to deal with it. I still love it and in ng+, I'll choose the dub again.
i'd say personal preferenceI've played the dub for around 10 minutes and dont like it. the acting is just of a really poor standard imo.. not a fan of the "scottish/welsh/english" voice cast either as im from england it sounds very unnatural to me.
ur thoughts?
quite likes the japanese voices in all honesty maybe cos i watch anime subbed. not stellar by any means but felt they fit the characters more.
will i miss much going sub other than the battle chants (which might be a good thing?)
THINK YOU CAN TAKE ME?! (RIP) Wished the lip syncing wasn't so bad.DON'T FORGET ME!
Does the Japanese voiceovers include all of the changed/cut dialogue from the English voiceovers?
nope and thats the issue.
ur playing with the same english localisation but japanese voices.
its actually quite annoying as some subs come and go quite quickly too.. as if assuming ur listening to it in english.
i think given the lack of quality translation, it probably swings back in favour of the dub.
both are really quite good tho. I listneed to chapter 1 with both voices. the english cast for most of the characters apart from rex are VERY impressive at how emotive they get. The japanese one hits the sweet spot for nia given appearance/age and probably depicts the intended character of pyra a little better too. but the fact im reading the same localisation, just without the ability to not read during eye-candy heavy scenes makes it a bit annoying.
swinging it strongly in dub favor for now is in-battle voices and little crap they might say.
I'll probably end up re-watching scenes in sub format.
imo while the others do a ok job in this scene rex still bunks it.... i found that his acting didnt fit the situation at all.just an update, now on chapter 3 and the final scene.. i actually feel the english is BETTER than the japanese in a lot of spots. Much prefer Vandham and the emotion he translates... same with the 2 villains. the contrast between cool and more urgent is more apparent in english.
Also rex's scream i feel is far more fitting than the japanese version. in jpn its the same battle scream but here.. idk his scream in english sounds like hes also upset (trying not to spoil)
