"Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" coming to Nintendo Switch

One of the few remaining games that was still trapped on the Wii U console is now escaping its entrapment and making its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Out of the blue, Nintendo released a brand new trailer today for an upcoming remaster release of "Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" for the Nintendo Switch, with improved visuals and added story elements. Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2015, and it was still one of the very few titles that remained exclusive to the Wii U. With this new announcement, this marks yet another title from the failed Wii U that makes its way into the Nintendo Switch, like Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, to name a few.

Rebuild humanity and survive on the mysterious planet Mira in this open-world action RPG! This visually enhanced version includes newly added story elements and more. The Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition game launches on the Nintendo Switch system March 20, 2025. Pre-orders are available now on Nintendo eShop.

The list of Wii U titles that are still exclusive to the system keeps shrinking, but there are still a handful of main titles that have yet to make their jump into the Switch, like Devil's Third, Star Fox Zero, the original Splatoon, and of course, the two most requested ports to the Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD & The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, with many rumours floating around for years now about both of them coming to the Switch at some point.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch consoles on March 20th, 2025.

Even when it comes to 13 year old character being sexualized? What is wrong with you guys,
Did you read what I said? Any and all censorship is bad. She's not even human, let alone real, and I fail to see how it's "sexualisation" anyway. Have you never seen boobs or girls in swimsuits?
What's wrong with you people who think censorship is okay? You'll make any excuse for censorship.

Inability to separate fiction and reality is a worldwide mental pandemic

It is not about it "not being real" or "the author says it is not a human", it is about the depiction, the characteristics and the clear intentions behind it. No matter what you say, If you think this ok you are either a delusional or a really bad individual.
Ok let's ban GTA, Resident Evil and all shooter games for excessive violence. you're a bad individual if you're into hurting others, right?

Can we stop talking about the "censorship" now? Just wait for the game to be out first?
Why should we stop talking about censorship? That's going to be one of the key discussion points surrounding this release (and indeed the original release). Besides which, we already know it's censored, so no need to put it in quotes.
Someone mentioned that the Japanese description says it's based on the western release, and modern Nintendo is so ironically puritanical that there's no way it doesn't stay censored (assuming it doesn't get even worse).

That, and I for one don't appreciate communists like @NinStar who think censorship can be justified. Nobody should give leniency to commies.

You're wrong, that's exactly what it's about. Or do we need to bring up the video game violence argument again? You implication that the "clear intentions behind it" are some kind of pedo shit is frankly disturbing and says a lot more about you than the people who just don't want censorship.

To dismiss all that by just insulting other people shows that you both have no argument and only care about ad hominem attacks. Funny, because you can just dislike it - that's totally fine - but instead, you're outright defending it.

All the butchered translations and censorship in other Xenoblade games (and other games besides) are already bad enough. This one's just more obvious.

If I get it, it'll be second-hand with mods, like with the bastardised Thousand-Year Door remake. I'm sick of people (westerners in particular) filtering media through their narrow lens for everyone else to consume instead of giving us the unfiltered version and assuming we're old enough to decide for ourselves how to interpret said media.

WOOOOOO!!! FINALLY!

After completing all of them except X, i finally have the chance to play X on the console i played the rest on :rofl2:

Since you decided to bring that up, would you be ok with something like a "school shooting simulator" or "r*pe game"? Because I think most people certainly wouldn't. As I said, it is all about the depiction and intentions behind it, which in my perspective also applies to violence or any other matter in this context. You simply don't care about morality if you think any of this is ok to be allowed to exist. I'm done with this discussion.

I also saw the trailer comparison and it seems like they double censor the ass
how the japanese has fallen
I have negative interest in the game now
Whelp this sucks but there are still thousands other games to play anyway

Yikes, let's stay away then. Game still stuck on the wiiu just like Tokyo mirages JP.

Because you guys can never agree and instead start to fling poo. This is the sad reality of the internet.
There's nothing to agree on. Anyone against censorship is objectively wrong, and anyone arguing it isn't censorship is also objectively wrong. Anyone who thinks it's subjective is a communist. It's literally that simple. Anyone who disagrees with these statements is not being objective.

Besides which, the only shit-flingers are those who have to butt in to say it's not censorship or that you should be okay with censorship. Anyone with two braincells to rub together can call it what it is. Whether or not they care about what's censored is much more subjective, however.

You think to much black and white. Even I'm against all forms of censorship knows there is a balance needed. For example not all documents (example military secrets) shouldn't be published, they should be censored from the public. However after like 50 years they should probably be come public domain if they aren't causing any harm.

I think this DE is suicide:

Jrpgs are already a niche
Mmo style jrpgs with little story and a blank, silent main character are even more of a niche
Switch is almost at the end of its life cycle, these games sell much better at the beginning like Xeno 2
XC1DE sold less than other Xenos and it was the most beloved Xenoblade game. This will be the worst selling Xeno game on Switch
Graphically it barely looks different from Wii U (it was stellar on Wii U, apart from faces and lack of collision with cars)
Wasted opportunity, could have been for Switch 2, aren't people mad about Nintendo doing this for games less than 10 years old? This won't be "definitive" at all, it's gonna look and perform worse than XCX on Cemu
The game had a ton of problems and I doubt they're gonna fix em all. Story is one. They'll add stuff but they can't fix what's already there. I vividly remember the story being incredibly boring and the villains all sounded and looked lame

Star Fox Zero unless its heavily reworked seems unlikely due to its heavy reliance on the Gamepad.
Devil's Third would be a miracle.
WWHD and TPHD needs to happen.
The original Splatoon i don't see that coming to the Switch unless they only focus on porting the campaign or they announce a 3rd wave of DLC for Splatoon 3 that brings Splatoon 1 campaign as DLC.
despite nintendo insisting you have to use it, the gamepad is optional in star fox zero. there's a button to switch perspectives on the TV while playing instead of needing to look at the gamepad at all.

flight combat games have had cockpit view as a feature for years. the only thing that really made zero different was letting you see both at the same time, which can easily be worked around in a port by having a mini view in the corner of the cockpit / third person view while in the other perspective

JRPGs aren't as nieche as they used to be.
