One of the few remaining games that was still trapped on the Wii U console is now escaping its entrapment and making its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Out of the blue, Nintendo released a brand new trailer today for an upcoming remaster release of "Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" for the Nintendo Switch, with improved visuals and added story elements. Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2015, and it was still one of the very few titles that remained exclusive to the Wii U. With this new announcement, this marks yet another title from the failed Wii U that makes its way into the Nintendo Switch, like Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, to name a few.

Rebuild humanity and survive on the mysterious planet Mira in this open-world action RPG! This visually enhanced version includes newly added story elements and more. The Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition game launches on the Nintendo Switch system March 20, 2025. Pre-orders are available now on Nintendo eShop.

The list of Wii U titles that are still exclusive to the system keeps shrinking, but there are still a handful of main titles that have yet to make their jump into the Switch, like Devil's Third, Star Fox Zero, the original Splatoon, and of course, the two most requested ports to the Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD & The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, with many rumours floating around for years now about both of them coming to the Switch at some point.

I find it a bit funny that it took them until basically the end of the Switch's main lifecycle to port this game over.

Star Fox Zero unless its heavily reworked seems unlikely due to its heavy reliance on the Gamepad.

These both need to happen. They could bundle the two Zeldas together, but they likely won't. Hell, charge us $80 for the bundle and I'd bite. And as for Splatoon 1, I don't think they care to bring it to the Switch in any form, as we already have the plaza... But the campaign as DLC would be cool. I'd just want it to be a tad harder is all. The Sunken Scrolls of lore REALLY lit that game up and was super interesting.
