Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition gets an even more definitive Switch 2 Edition, features 4K/60 docked performance

After datamines revealed code for 60fps in the original Switch release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, fans have patiently waited for a Switch 2 update to come along and unlock what we assumed the game was already capable of. Both announced and released today, the new Switch 2 Edition gives us this and a touch more, bumping the resolution up to 4K when docked and 1080p for handheld play.

The best things in life are however not free, and this update is no exception. Coming in at £4.19 in the UK and $4.99 in the US it won't be breaking the bank, but with the update purely bumping the resolution and framerate, it is a shame it couldn't be free. The Switch 2 Edition will also be seeing a physical release, with it slated to hit stores on the 16th of April, where you can expect to find the base Switch game and Switch 2 Edition upgrade together on one cartridge.

Jeez, how many times do they need to use the word "edition" and "Switch 2"... These Switch 2 covers are poorly made.

That's nice and all, but Nintendo needs to make new games and stop porting games that have literally been ported to basically every system since their release. I can only play so much of Donkey Kong Country Returns and Xenoblade. That goes for Sony as well. We didn't need PS5 ports of PS4 games that still look amazing.
Agreed. The Switch was already an amazing port machine. Now is the time for amazing PS3 and 360 remakes/remasters and original titles. We have all the Wii and Wii U games we'll ever need on Switch 1 and 2 (Besides the last two Zelda HD games that are ((hopefully)) coming)

Come on friend, it's the Edition for the Switch 2, on the Switch 2 for this Edition to be on Switch 2, we had to add an additional Definitive Edition, to know that this is the Edition that is on the Switch 2, even with the Switch 2 logo at the top of the case to assure this Edition is Definitive and on the Switch 2.

In Addition Edition to that, I got nothing! Lol

And this is my Definitive message, to all those that didn't know, this Edition is on the Switch 2 Definitively though!

Every other company on earth: "After-sales is a part of a product's release. Updates? Of course they're free, they're not DLCs so why would we charge for them?"

Pisstendo: "Wait guys, we have a new idea: You know how developers and publishers charge for new features with DLCs or expansions? Well, how about this: We charge for updates that should be a part of the game in the first place! They'll suck it up for sure :creep:"

And suck it up they did.

The Nintendo fanbois are of course defending these practices to their last breath. Imagine charging for updates that, every other company on earth, releases for free because if you want to charge for the same game, you release more stuff for it. Pisstendo? Nah, we charge just so you can play your game the way it should've been from the beginning and now paid another 500 quid for another one of our bricks.

I'm sorry but anyone defending this deserves a brick to their skull, hopefully that'll wake them up. The consoomerism is heavy with this one, and I sadly know a few who fall for this shit even when they have a PC and an Emulator on which they can run this game with 60FPS, superiour resolution and LOD, and generally a much better experience. But I guess if you're this deep into the Pisstendo ecosystem you have to justify the 500 quid you spent on that brick called "Switch 2" and shell out even more cash so you don't feel it was a complete waste to have bought into that junk. Sunk cost fallacy and all that...
How dare you point out the fallacy of my sunk costs?
I foolishly bought the game just before they announced this update... Tbf, it's so new, charging for it is really a slap to the face.
