We are just one day away from the new Nintendo console hitting store shelves, and in preparation for the release, Nintendo has released the Day One update for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, bringing several features previously unveiled on the Switch 2 Direct, as well as finally unlocking the device for users to play with the console.

The update number correlates with that of the Nintendo Switch 1, following the same versioning scheme from it, with update v20.1.1 now available for download for on the Switch 2 console, same as with the original Switch v20.1.1 update that was released just yesterday.
The official changelog for the Switch 2 update 20.1.1 includes the following:
  • Use of Nintendo Switch software
  • Nintendo Switch Online
  • Game Chat
  • Share communication
  • Full transfer
  • Virtual Game Cards
  • Nintendo eShop
  • Game news
  • Upload function for screenshots and videos to the server
  • Linkage with smartphone apps “Nintendo Parental Controls Switch” and “Nintendo Switch App”, etc.
    • “Nintendo Switch App” is required to view screenshots and videos uploaded to the server.
For details on each function, please see the Nintendo website.
  • With some exceptions, linkage with a Nintendo Account is required to use network functions.
  • The system must be updated if you want to use Nintendo Switch 2 software provided with a game key card.
  • The system must be updated if you want to use a microSD Express card.
  • When you connect to the Internet during the initial setup of the system, you will be prompted to update the system, and if you try to use a function from the HOME menu, etc., a guide will be displayed on the screen if a system update is required.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the system.
Additionally, Nintendo has also released updates for a slew of first party Switch 1 titles in preparation for the Switch 2 release, usually optimizations for the games to handle high resolutions and also support for Switch 2's HDR, while others do have further changes to make better use of the Switch 2 hardware, like in the case of the exclusive features for BotW or TotK.
Some of first party titles that received updates recently are the following:
  • ARMS
  • Big Brain Academy: Brain VS Brain
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics
  • Game Builder Garage
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3
With just mere hours before the console is finally out, players can begin preparing to migrate all their Switch games into the upcoming console, for those interested in upgrading, and with the latest firmware update for Switch 2, users with the console already in their hands since days ago can now finally start delving into the console proper.

i live in australia, had mine for nearly 12 hours
History has finally been saved. This entices me more to play my copy of the game on that system. I know im not usually the type to stop playing games due to how they run but this was the exception.

My family cannot purchase this and Deltarune so we're going to be apart of the people that will wait for the console to release more. Too soon to be asking for day one exploits though, ill give it somw more time. But hey! At least the system has finally been out and nobosy can stop leaking anything bit potentially more future Switch 2 games to come out in the future. Im honestly excited to purchase mine so I can finally show more proof that will be touching more of the console and whatnot...

I'll be replaying them I think. Probably just leave my original save data on my Switch OLED.

Damn. Bravely Default was the one that got sold out for me. I did grab Cyberpunk and Tears of the kingdom(S1 physical)
Lucky, I'm trying to find Cyberpunk 2077 at Walmart when they open in early morning and there is reason about I went with physical copy to save 59 GB to not take much of Switch 2's storage.

As for Bravely Default, they use keycard that disincentive me from getting physical copy, so I will go with digital, however I decided to wait and see if Bravely Default gets ported to OG Switch.

How risky is it to make the Day 1 patch if I want to crack it (when and if the crack gets released)?
seeing as the console won't boot without it, i think you should probably just get the update

I want to get something sorted for the lead up to Legends ZA and have a game code be the prize. It's just finding people who would be interested. Always worries me I'll put a lot of effort in and just nobody will turn out.

Either way I think I will sort something. Will almost certainly be in Scarlet and Violet with a weird non-standard ruleset I come up with, so look forward to that :hrth:

Well I have been somewhat offline since June 5th for obvious reasons hahaha.
Lot of things that can be said regarding Switch2.

Lot of positive things some downers (joy-con teardown, lack of a really decent case / grip (Satisfye is a bit late to the party with their ZenGrip2, will be great as always though).

Mario Kart World well is wildly fun. Really really reaaaallly love knockout tour.

Hope to see more Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade packs, like No Man's Sky which is wild to be free.
Don't mind paying a few bucks for great upgrade packs.
