"Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" coming to Nintendo Switch

One of the few remaining games that was still trapped on the Wii U console is now escaping its entrapment and making its way to the Nintendo Switch in 2025.

Out of the blue, Nintendo released a brand new trailer today for an upcoming remaster release of "Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition" for the Nintendo Switch, with improved visuals and added story elements. Xenoblade Chronicles X was originally released for the Nintendo Wii U back in 2015, and it was still one of the very few titles that remained exclusive to the Wii U. With this new announcement, this marks yet another title from the failed Wii U that makes its way into the Nintendo Switch, like Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, to name a few.

Rebuild humanity and survive on the mysterious planet Mira in this open-world action RPG! This visually enhanced version includes newly added story elements and more. The Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition game launches on the Nintendo Switch system March 20, 2025. Pre-orders are available now on Nintendo eShop.

The list of Wii U titles that are still exclusive to the system keeps shrinking, but there are still a handful of main titles that have yet to make their jump into the Switch, like Devil's Third, Star Fox Zero, the original Splatoon, and of course, the two most requested ports to the Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD & The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, with many rumours floating around for years now about both of them coming to the Switch at some point.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch consoles on March 20th, 2025.

How exactly do you sell software at loss? softwares prices are totally arbitrary, it is not like hardware.
I don't think they mean the games were sold at a loss, more that games on the Wii U generally didn't make their budgets back. Seems a reasonable assumption, but without knowing the budgets it's not a given either.

Many people thought that Xenoblade Chronicles X would never make it to the Nintendo Switch, but in fact they announced the Definitive Edition later this year. It looks like there will be more games from the Wii U ported to the Switch later in its life. Hopefully it will have backward compatibility for NS2 in the future.

From memory, there's a young girl character in XCX, and in the original Japanese version some outfits were 'too skimpy' for her, so they were changed for the international release - not to mention the breast slider for the female PC.

Unfortunately, I believe this stupid censorship's going to remain, even for the Japanese version, which sucks ass.

At least we'll have ALL Xenoblade games on one console (or emulator). I wonder if they'll add XC1, XC2, and XC3 cameos to this, like how Shulk, Fiora, and Elma were added to XC2 via Land of Challenge.
Oh, and now we just need The Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD, as well.

Based on the censored NA version
No reason to play it, then.
I also saw the trailer comparison and it seems like they double censor the ass
how the japanese has fallen
I have negative interest in the game now
Whelp this sucks but there are still thousands other games to play anyway

What? But the base game already had the DLCs outside of japan.
Included on the disc though?

Don't fret, people will restore the game as an "uncensored+undub+60fps patch" or whatever they do after the game launches. It always happens.

Looking at that image I thought the Wii U version was the censored at first because the armor covers more there. Not really sure I would call that censorship as it just seems like a slightly different design. I played the game with the censorship removal patch on WiiU and it changes almost nothing. The only thing I noticed is Lin has maybe 1-2 different costumes like the bikini. I don't like censorship either but this was really mild and inconsequential. I get dislike of censorship but I can't really understand seeing those tiny changes as a big deal. Especially the Lin one as she is a child in the game and it is just a couple costumes.

It ran that bad?!
Actually it was far worse than that resolution wise, with dynamic resolution dropping to 768x619. I found it funny that Digital Foundry never noticed that in their review and claimed it was a 720p game.

I pixel counted the trailer (could be off due to the bitrate/cutscene differences) and got native 1080p - seemingly without the TAA/checkerboarding of later games, but the res might definitely change in the final build as the FPS drops were very visible in the beginning cutscene

Ah yes let the censorship controversy begin. I remember there was a guide on here adding the uncensored data. We might need it again lol

Definitive edition my ass. For their 30th anniversary they'll come out with the collectors definitive Shulk edition.

Could be good but it'll still be censored, so it'll only be worth buying second-hand with mods. All censorship is bad, end of story. Anyone defending censorship of any kind is a bad person.
Even when it comes to 13 year old character being sexualized? What is wrong with you guys,
