Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition will launch on the Switch next year

Nintendo is bringing back their much-beloved modern JRPG, Xenoblade Chronicles, to a new platform. Nintendo Switch owners will get the chance to play a remastered version of the 2011 title, when it launches next year. Intricate details were not given, but a trailer shows off what the game will look like on the Switch.

It looks better than 2's artstyle.
It will be on the same engine for XC2, XC1 have no actual art style as it's done only by programmers.
As much as I like XC1 story and characters I still think the design look weird, it's an anime but not actually anime, I prefer XC2 design at least it doesnt look weird.

I really enjoyed the 3ds ver. but when the [new] Switch game came out, I just could not get with that new battle system at all. Far too awkward for me, like trying to write with your non-dominant hand.

EDIT Dear G-d they better make it scale-able text though, otherwise, I'd pass.

When they port XCX as well, what would be the right order to play them (never played a XC yet)?
The order they were released?
  1. XC 1
  2. XC X
  3. XC 2

Seems that they’re using the models from XC2. Now if only Bandai Namco would step it up and remaster the Xenosaga.. I would literally have a nerdgasm for that

XCX is not related to XC1 or XC2 as far as I know, I tried to play XCX 3 times and every time I I force myself to play for few hours then give up, XC1 and XC2 was far much better, in XCX the soundtrack is just awful and your character is mute, story is not interesting at all, the only good thing maybe was the battle system, so I passed on XCX.
You can play XC1 or 2 in any order as the story in not really related, there is only a link at the end which I dont want to spoil it for you.
I say wait for XC1 first because the battle system in XC2 is so complicated for newcomers.

Apparently it doesn't matter. I never played the others until XC2. They don't really interfere with each other.

where the hell is Xenoblade Chronicles X.....

GIVE US BOTH DAMMIT!

BOOO!
eh, give them some time first. They gotta milk the first entry of the Xenoblade series for a little longer.
But in all it's fairness they've got a point. Xenoblade is the holy grail of JRPGs almost flawless, save for some technical bugs and outdated Wii graphics.
Here's hoping they crank up the graphics/shadows/lightning etc. Would be nice to see a proper remake of this. But this is going to be a port like the many other switch games.
makes sense the switch is port-able after all :tpi:.

it ALMOST looks as good as the emulated game on PC with texture packs ... but WHY THE FUCK REMASTER THIS AND NOT X?!

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Xenoblade Chronicles X would require they redo the map system which used the gamepad. Wouldn't be a simple port.
ummm why? you could play that game in its entirety on the Gamepad screen itself without a TV.

Finally, bought it on the 3ds and now I'll buy it on the Switch. Also the new graphics looks sweet, it'll definitely be worth it
Guess I'll be buying it again too. I got it on 3DS, but have only played a couple hours, which is longer than I made it on Wii. After putting over 80 hours into the sequel before giving up, this may be the version to finally hook me in.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
