So I've been dumping some hours into Xenoblade Chronicles with ye olde Dolphin. I've found it to be an extremely meaty MMO-like party RPG every bit worth the time investment. Top-notch music and art direction. The game is seemingly locked to 30 FPS, but I thought you guys might appreciate some screenshots. 1440p internal res, 4K screen res setting, 4xMSAA, 16xAF.
So insanely hyped for XC2 after getting a taste of the first game. I've already dropped the $48 for a physical pre-order.
Hmmm I have only tried the 3ds version and the first fight you got in was so insanely horrible and bad already (not because it was hard or anything but because the fighting system was the worst piece of junk I have ever seen) ...

There are a good deal of youtubes posted (last page) with gameplay and explanation on how some of the new combat system plays , it is different but it is not Diablo

it's the same battle system.
lot of people expected to play an action RPG, while it's still a ATB system with auto-fight (like FF12, you can't escape an attack), except you can position yourself around the targeted enemy and it has its importance.
it's a mix between ATB and ARPG, it's a little confusing at the first fight I agree, but I liked it after getting used to it. it had a lot of tactics due to combo with other playable character's skills.
I don't think I've gotten that far yet, but no issues up to this point. Pretty much locked at 30 FPS save for a couple drops to 27 when a new scene is popping in sometimes. PC specs in the signature.
I played the crap out of Xenoblade 1. I've put +250hs on it, enjoyed every second.
About Xenoblade 2.... i didn't like anything of what I have saw so far.
I don't like the new artstyle.
I don't like the blade/driver mechanic. It looks it's only purpose is to have a larger character roster.
I found both the GUI and camera position to be zoomed in to overcompensate for the fact the game is on a portable console (but maybe it's just me).
I want to like it, but so far I'm not hyped at all.
The old art style itself is pretty generic, but they made it pop with the design and direction of it. I think they can probably make something special again. The new style is a good way to add detail without demanding too much rendering power.
I appreciate you screenshots dude. I have considered doing the whole "HD upres packs" too, but I probably don't have the time to play Xenoblade 1 again. My Xenoblade 3D file was maxed out, at least I think it stops counting after 99:99. I lost my save in a really dumb way. I was exchanging some files from my computer to my SD card and when I went to eject it, Adobe was indexing it for "media" (what an awful feature) and I lost all of my data on the card. I did beat it once though and had lots of fun. The battle system was probably the most engaging I have ever played. I wish there were a little more options to fighting other than going for topples all the time but it was fun none the less. I didn't do all the sidequests and quite frankly I didn't invest a lot of time into figuring them out. I had a little trouble with leveling due to that, but I finished it in the end.
I am playing Xenoblade X on my Wii U and while its quite different in terms of atmosphere and exploration rather than focusing on characters and story, I am still having a great time. I am a little worried as the story isn't really gripping me like I would have liked. I am getting the most enjoyment out of side quests (if i can find them to do, I seem to have a big problem figuring out where to find "normal missions" to complete sections of the hexagon mappings). I am not very far in, only getting the pre-recs for chapter 4. Hopefully I can stick with it. I don't feel like the game is flowing in a natural progression but maybe that's just me.
Xenoblade 2 looks awesome, I have no issue with the more "anime" feel then went with. I thought that Xenoblade 1 and X were already pretty anime to begin with (at least 1 with the whole
pocket dimension plot twists. As well as very very anime kingdom hearts esc characters like Alvis giving you the choice to defeat god and rewrite reality... You can't get too much more anime than learning that the main character was dead the whole time, your mentor was working for the enemy the whole time, and your girlfriend who you thought was dead comes back as a sexy robot... seriously those robot boobs, man. [DONATE]
The idea of there being a bunch of living titans this time is very interesting to me. Even if the kingdoms located on each's back seem pretty typical, I still think its cool. The game looks like delicious eye candy. XC1 looks great too, but it was never in true HD and XCX never truly achieved the while over saturation that I love.
UNFORTUNATELY, I don't have a Switch yet and probably won't for a bit. I promised I would finish the WiiU games I wanted to play before I sold my WiiU and got a Switch. I still have to finish:
Xenoblade X
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2
Donkey Kong Country 2 Tropical Freeze
and there are a few others.
I don't have an issue waiting, the Switch is kicking ass and taking names. It looks like a perfect companion to sit next to my PS4.
oh, you finally played xeno 1?
I think we talked about it once. I'm glad you liked it.
especially the battles, as it's the main reason a lot of people didn't play the game. (first battle -> bad game)
even if the battle evolve and are not as static as the first one, people didn't give it a chance.
I've played it 100%, completed all the quests and citizen's link, but some quests have different paths an unlock only based on your choices, so I can't say I did all existing quests. but I watched all possible player's cutscene (tried all of them before deciding which one to choose).
the only things I didn't do is "kill enemies LV124" while your own level is capped at 99...

Oh yeah, things I didn't do:
All sidequests
more than 10 heart to hearts (seriously I NEVER felt like I met any of the requirements)
Level +100 boss monsters
literally anything with Colony 6 relocation lol
I did have to try the game 3 times before I was able to actually stick with it. I was in the same boat, that first battle really messed me up since they didn't do a great job explaining how to inflict topple. And how only the Monado can inflict damage to mechon. I feel like for a while I didn't understand how you could play the game without having Shulk in the party.
I'm looking forward to Xenoblade 2.
I haven't played any of the other xenoblade games so I'm new to the series, must finish my playthough of BotW hardmode first though. ^^
