Is it currently possible to edit game text and subtitles? I think it'd be particularly useful to change some of the liberties taken with the localization if using japanese voices (ex: changing localized names).
We have been able to extract files from Switch ROMs for months now ( https://github.com/SciresM/hactool ) and have multiple means of running custom ROMs these days as well (by default custom firmwares have complete control, any that lack the ability to run custom ROMs is a failure on their part, or maybe a choice on the part of the developers).
Subtitles can be more tricky if they are burned into a video cutscene.
Changing text is usually a fairly basic endeavour in that it does not typically need you to have serious debugging skills (debugging switch stuff is possible but it is far more tedious than a lot of other devices, or devices with working emulators). However Switch ROM hacking is still fairly new territory so don't expect many to have gone before you and pulled apart this game, noted common storage formats for text or otherwise made your life a bit easier like you might see with older systems. That said it will be much like previous systems so consult any text hacking guide you care to follow as it will teach you what you need to know.
I'm noticing a pattern in the forum, by users with radicalized or prejudiced points of view, where they say one thing and in the same page say another, or share a source that doesn't provide for their argument. I leave them talking alone, what am I to do, engage in an "it is - it isn't" exchange about one aspect, when it is clear as water?
