Microsoft has given us the official unveiling of the Xbox Project Scarlett, their next gen console. It’s set for launch Holiday 2020, and will be “4x” faster than the Xbox One. Will utilize the power of the cloud. Phil Spencer claims that it will have 120hz support and up to 8K resolution. Halo Infinite will be a launch title.

Read my response above. Power will matter if the thing cant run the games. That's why it is selling besides the portable thing, because it at least can run some current gen titles...

You're only thinking about games from a powerful console standpoint. 3DS just released it's last game Switch has handheld market to itself and companies can save money by releasing their games on it. There's no reason to think they won't. Switch has sold over 30 million units already you don't think third party companies want in on that?

but now that 4k blurays are a thing not having a disc drive is dumb imo, also without discdrive there is no backwards compat unless for store bought digital games i guess becuase you cant just stick an xbox disc to do the drm anymore lol.

One thing that sucks about the XB1 4K Blu-ray drive is that it only has Dolby Vision support for a select list of televisions. Even if you have a capable tv, if it's not on their list you can forget it. If your tv doesn't support Dolby Vision it's obviously not an issue for a person, but I nearly bought one ONLY for it's 4K player until I found out my $1,200 DV capable tv from 2017 isn't supported. So even WITH the drive - it was still a failure. Again, IMO, because people get butt hurt over what is obviously an opinion so you need to specifically point it out to them in every frigging post.

Porting to a platform which isnt as capable as the ones you were developing for can cost a lot of money. Of course the switch could still receive third party games, but the ones coming from the ps5 or scarlet are extremely unlikely, so new, exclusive switch titles are the only thing i see possible (just like how third parties were on the 3ds era).

The wii was a successful console, but it is full of shovelware and few third parties titles coming from the ps3/360, then you had the exclusive third party titles. The scenario is repeating now. Popularity doesnt matter if the cost of downgrading your game is huge, especially to the point it will be unrecognizable from your original vision, it's a huge no no to certain developers.

It's just the fanboys. When I said I was disappointed in most of the games in the Microsoft E3 thread I was told to "find a new hobby"

More than we can say about the abortion Wii U was.

The Wii U was and still is a great system and imo at this point still has a better library than the Switch. By the time 2020 comes around though, the number of worthy games on the Switch will surpass that of the Wii U. The only reason it failed is due to poor marketing and bandwagon hate.

At least the gamepad was a better controller than the joycons. The sticks were the correct size, comfortable, the buttons were nice, especially the L/R and ZL/ZR. The joycons are, ugh... literally overpriced garbage with sticks that end up drifting for no reason. But they do their job for portable play... kinda... But yeah, the switch library at least is better.

You're clearly a fanboy, and too immature to realize we live in a huge world and not everybody shares your opinion.

I went in wanting to be impressed and I wasn't. I'm allowed to give my opinion don't like it put me on ignore.

You were one of the few that was impressed with that presentation why don't you go after every one else that was down on it but you just go after me well guess what you're going to get it back.

Why don't you go back in that thread and get on every single person's case that didn't like the presentation. There were way more than loved it like you did. I got nothing else to say to you.

I was also thinking about this quote
** the new Xbox "combines an SSD with a solid state drive to deliver great performance" **

A load of buzzwords to confuse the customer (us), but is it tho? I think more that the people that did the talking were the confused ones and knew nothing about hardware.

If that quote is going to make any sense then they are prolly going to use a M.2 SSD as a Cache to speed up load times in games, just like an optane drive for an example.
and then have an ordinary Sata styled SSD for your games.

@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
