Sooo... I have a Dance Dance Revolution dance board, and I was wondering if you could plug it into the PC like a normal Controller and play! Thanks Tempers!~

Windows (at least 7 and up, not sure about XP or Vista) has drivers and whatnot for USB-based 360 controllers, so it ought to work. Not really sure how easy it'd be to map the inputs, although the standard gamepad/controller tool should work.

If for some reason your gamepad (or mat, in this case) isn't recognized correctly in-game, you can use a program like joy2key to map your gamepad input to keyboard/mouse inputs.

There are LOADS of games that support 360 controller on PC, it's really handy. FIFA for example is just made to be played with that, Batman games too, AC definitely too.
Just a shitload of games available, and don't even get me started about emulators..... Yup, I really think more gamers should use a 360 controller with their PC!

So a xbox360 pad would be better to play with on a ps2 emulator?

However, a very stupid trend lately is that if a gamepad is detected, ANY kind of gamepad, then the game will force an X360 control set that often can't be customized. The x360 controls don't always match up with a gamepad, either, so these forced controls effectively cancel out many other kinds of gamepads. Some games even lock out mouse and keyboard input if they detect any generic controller, and the guesses that controller is an x360 one.

A 360 controller is a simple way to migrate to PC gaming--but it's bringing its own problems into the PC gaming realm, and it's not bothering to keep its side of stuff clean and proper.

What about those controllers that are a kind of mix of a ps3 and Xbox controller. Are those set as a 360 controller or a pc game pad

If there's a gamepad, the game will often force an X360 control set, regardless of what kind of gamepad is used. Myself and others have had to us x360ce on countless games just to get our controllers to work properly--to not have our buttons mapped in all the wrong places, have our joystick input tilted 90 degrees, and other weird shit.
