Now in its 31st year, the awards were first given out back in 1983, with the first Game of the Year award going to Jet Pac on the ZX Spectrum.
Andy Robinson, editor of Computer and Videogames, said that three decades on, the awards still "represent the voice of gamers worldwide".
"We've revamped the categories to reflect the diversity of modern gaming and also added the inaugural Lifetime Achievement award, which has made this year's ceremony the most thrilling for us yet," he said

Good day for Naughty Dog!
Wait what? Assassin's Creed Vita won best handheld game? It wasn't even that good.

A majority of the awards had very limited selection that didn't even cover most of the best games.
A lot of them were just picking the obvious gems among a pile of shit, with most of the true gems never even being an option. Pretty much why I only managed to vote for maybe half the categories.

I'll have to agree with Mark of the Ninja as indie game of the year. Really loved that. The rest... meh, dunno.

Why are there 2012 games in the 2013 awards?

Like, seriously, Far Cry 3 winning "best gaming moment" for this year? How the hell does that work? "Every single second of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon" should've taken the title instead.

I don't see how World of Tanks was the best online game, it's way too much pay to win and some elements of the game are way too cheese and easymode. It's too bad PGI has really screwed the pooch with MechWarrior Online, cause it's a good game that they can't balance.

Pay to win? Wut? I hadn't paid a dime and I pretty much never did bad in any match.
All paying does is allow you to progress a hell of a lot quicker, like if you could pay money on League of Legends to gain summoner levels or something. I was tempted to pay to get better arty tanks quicker, but that's about it.
Most of the time you're put in with tanks around your rank, with a couple higher ups on both sides to retain balance, and the bigger and more badass your tank is, the more likely my artillery-ass was to focus you to rubble.
I've also seen lower tanks beat higher tier tanks simply because the skill gap was too great.

Most... Wanted... Witcher... 3?

Out of the list they supplied, I felt like that was the least wanted.
