Homebrew Will it mess up my Pokemon Diamond game?

I have a legit copy of pokemon diamond but, as i'm sure many of you are aware, you can't get a few pokemon in the game. If I use a hacked rom to trade the pokemon I can't get over will it mess my legit copy up in anyway, shape or form? I really don't want to see 300+ hours go down the drain.

I don't think it will mess up the game, but you can backup the sav file just in case.

No it won't UNLESS you go do something like get a walk through walls cheat and stuff it up by getting stuck. It definitely works, I've done it, so I can vs battle on PBR, but I still made it semi-legit for it's EVS and IVS

why would it? the rom is a backup of the original
