This isn't happening until a disc gets dumped and the ticket gets extracted.
Unless the files are extracted if you load it from the wiiu, that would expmain the splashscreen. If the boot files are missing, we could create a blank homebrew with dofferent ID and put the game files there and see if it boots. That would reqiire sigpatches just like you would run homebrew apps in wiiu format

well if all the files are there in a pre download all you would have to do is dump them with ftpiiu everywhere and then we could run it in loadiine. Also the encrytion key for a pre download and a normal download should be the same so all you really have to do is use tik2sd to get the necessary decryption key

we still need to actually get the files, which are all encrypted, and we dont have the title key.

That's the problem, that we don't have a title key, and Ninty's certainly not gonna give it to us before the game's even out. We'd need to wait for some store to break the street date, or maybe for a disc to get stolen like what happened earlier.

I don't know if reviewers are getting the Wii U version at all. I've only ever seen Switch stuff from them.

I really wish the demo could've been dumped and leaked before the guy got caught ;w;

Where would the news hit first/quickest? Is this thread/gbatemp a good place?

Hopefully someone robs a gamestop and leaks it soon

actually several reviewers have been confirmed to have received switches and zelda.
Not the guy that bought the stolen one a few days back. Of course the reviewers will get/have gotten Zelda, and a few of them will even break their embargoes. However, that doesn't really help us out.

What we really need to look out for is Wii U reviewers, and dodgy shops of course. The Switch is, and will remain irrelevant in this case.

Just some random guess that they are hoping is true, no source
he's right, but less hope and more following past experience.

I've been here, and been a major lurker, for a LONG time (long time is relative but still...) and I can tell you 2 things;
1) GBATemp doesn't condone direct piracy and doesn't allow it either. I would assume that leaking the title key (or posting one to any game) on GBATemp would result in at the very least a warning strike of some sort for said user.
2) GBATemp generally doesn't condone violence either, and robbing a gamestop while it may sound all funny haha 'got the game anyway who cares', is an extremely bad scenario all around. My local gamestop got robbed a few years ago and now the employee who was there is completely traumatized to even go near the store. It's not all fun and games in life.

we have never stated we were going to do any of those things. its a discussion thread and we are breaking no rules.

1) I didnt mean to link me to anything, I was just curious as if GBAtemp would mention it as it hits whatever websites.

2) Sacrifices need to be made. This is Zelda we're talking about.

No I never said anyone said they did, I'm just mentioning that the general disrespect was uncalled for.

1) GBATemp would likely mention it somewhere, yes.
2) As great as Zelda is, and believe me I'm a HUGE fan, it's not worth an act of violence. That was all I was originally saying.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
