Hacking Wiikey group is getting lazy.

The clone situation has innocent victims though. I purchased a wiikey with a site telling me it was legit, for a price that legit wiikeys are being sold for, and it was only when it was on its way to me that the site told me it was 'likely' to be a clone.

I've not installed it, and I've probably chucked perfectly good money away.

HOWEVER, i think its very unfair of wiikey to release an update which might not work on clones because like a lot of people, i bought and installed what i thought to be a original wiikey and only discovered after installin that it was a clone (works fine though).

The wiikey site was very upfront about who was a reseller. Did you get a clone from someone they listed on their site as a reseller? If you decided to take your chance and buy from someone who wasn't listed as a reseller it doesn't seem unfair at all. Blame the seller.

I agree, I think it will have taught people a lesson to do a little research first and see who are authorised sellers from this point.

Burto - again it's this odd honour amongst thieves. You're talking about a chip that enables pirated material, but somehow pirating the chip that enables pirating is more wrong than playing isos and redsquirrel deserves everyting he gets.

I did buy from an official reseller, but it wasnt until i installed it that I realised it was a clone. I dont want to re-open it and take it out and then reinstall another one. I dont have time for that, especially when it all works fine. Im just miffed that I paid a high price when the clones are so cheap.

Regarding the way i feel about the wiikey team - i was more on the side that if they release another update which "bricks" the clone or the wii, then thats what I think is totally unfair. I dont really care if it wont update because im happy with what it offers so far.

In either case, i bet for sure the clone(s) update fine.

yeah.

although i have ordered a few more from another website for friends. They dont care if they are clones, they just want it cheap and to play back ups. I explained about the possibility they will be clones but they really didnt mind.

Divneo was an authorized reseller for about a week. That's where my clone came from.
