If the NNUPatcher method doesn't work, download the update with jnustool (requires java) or utikdownloader and install it with Wup Installer. NNUPatcher won't work for game updates if the DNS server you're using is blocking more than the system update server or if you've blocked the normal update server addresses in your router.
Thanks, really appreciate it. I'll try the alternatives.

I'm sorry to post here, i don't want o waste anyones time, but I've tried for a while to sort this and can't find out what is wrong.

I was installing a game to Nand (used USB helper instead of wup installer) it failed installing to Nand, I assume due to running out of memory. I have been into the settings and it came up with a message that unusable data (or something like that) had been detected and offered to delete. I did this and it freed up memory.

I have been getting an error (after game/s are installed) that no usb device is present (It is and it has been wine until the installing to internal problem)

I am using Mocha, browser exploit back into hbloader and wup installer. Install to USB. It installs, but doesn't confirm, instead it brings up the failed error code and no usb.

I am able to format the hard drive in Wii U menu, it all seems fine until after install?

Even a game I have previously successfully installed no longer installs (I have not added anything to the sd card)

I have tried to hard drives, any advice is very much appreciated.

When someone buys it and uploads it obviously

Hey Columbo...maybe you are not that good at solving cases or talk to people :P I thought utikdownloadhelper was taking games directly from Nintendo servers...nobody has to buy the game and upload it if I am not mistaken. I thought I had to update something or change something...

Are you for real. Someone has to buy the game and upload the ticket to the title key site for it to appear on utikdownloader.

Is a 32 GB pendrive good enough to enjoy games on the WiiU?

yes, no game is that large, so you can use that. however, u won't be able to play but a few games, so I'd recommend a 500GBs+ hdd. I have a 2TB drive connected to mine, and I have about 1.2TBs full with 265 games installed or so.

I can move the game after copying it to Nand over to the USB no problem. I just cant get it to even start installing from WUP installer GX2 direct to USB. It stays at 0%. The games work no problem off of USB too. I've tried moving the WUP Channel to the USB, tried from HBL, deleted and redownloaded, formatted the SD card. Just lost as to what it could be. Searching all over the place and google to no avail.
Thanks!

Also having this issue. Any help would be appreciated.
I even tried using a USB flash drive and it would let me install to that just can no longer install to my HDD.
I went to install multiple games at once after having successfully installed 2 single games to the external hard drive.
I can now only install to the NAND or to a different Flash drive i have formatted to WII u

Hey guys, also been having this problem lately, my WUP Installer GX2 suddenly stopped working, stuck on 0% every time I try to install anything. Everything was working fine today, and suddenly been having these issues with absolutely no error message, it just stays on 0% with no further behavior. Anyone here had the same issue and solved it somehow?

Has anyone found a decent reliable Amazon or eBay item to use with a laptop hard drive? I've purchased a few portable hard drive enclosures with Y-cables before, and some have not worked with the Wii modding I've done. Does anyone have a specific one they like to use?

you mean the game update ?
game updates are separated from the game's data.

visualize it like that :
the game you download is the same than the game on a disc.
if you buy the disc, and you download the updates, they will not be written to the disc, but into an additional folder on your console where updates are stored.
the update folder is common for both the disc version and the downloaded version.

with games you download from eShop it's the same.
the game is in a folder, the update in another, so you need to get both separately.

If a game has more than one update, you only need the latest (it contains all previous ones).

Out of curiosity. If getting a game from the NUS servers do i need to get the latest update as well? Or will the game already be up to date?
What Cyan said was correct. However if your console is connected to the internet you can let the game update itself when you try to run it instead

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
