Just noticed I forgot to reply to that. The main difference is that we got a lot of stuff working *before* getting f0f's help. I think by the point we got access to all the private Wii U hacking stuff, we already had dumped the GamePad flash, reverse engineered all the Wi-Fi stuff, and had audio and input streaming working. It also took us only a week or so to get to that point. Compare that to Maxternal and friends building on f0f discoveries and taking months to implement a (fairly trivial) race attack.
Good points. Also, last I knew Maxternal has one core working and then updates stopped there. That is a key difference you pointed out, thanks.

Knowledge about video encoding, but most importantly self awareness of your own ignorance.

Actually, it's worse than that. Either he has a developmental disability that prevents him from comprehending clearly presented information, or he just doesn't give a crap and hasn't watched your talk, because you explained pretty clearly what is causing the artifacts.

This problem seems to be rather pervasive amongst most gbatemp users.

its a teachable moment, for sure, but its really at the discretion of the teacher to determine what the student is capable of learning. in this case, i think the teachers decided not to cast pearls before swine.

Amazing demo and explanation about the Gamepad. I'm eager to see what comes of that in the future. At some point, I think it would be entertaining to have people just buying WiiU Gamepads just for PC use.

Just to give you an idea of how much that would cost (The gamepad is definitely a good chunk of the price of the console.)

It'd still be a good buy if you have a really powerful rig. The Gamepad has plenty of input stuff to make it a good controller for just about anything. If I had a nice PC with a huge steam library of games, I'd be buying it in an instant (of course, for that to happen the kinks need to get worked out so it accessible for the end user.)
Either way, PC gaming is already a pretty expensive hobby, so whats ~$170 to have a controller with remote play? Not to much in the end, i would imagine.

Well if you just tweak the vertex buffer ordering you can get both results and efficiency

Is there a way to make the wii u gamepad/pro controller avaible with the snes/nes etc. emulators in vwii mode ?
Gamepad screen, yes. Gamepad buttons, no (although MAYBE with a compatible USB WiFi adapter and some reprogramming) pro controller, yes but have to be programmed to use it.

I may have missed it but:
Can anyone enlighten me on whether all regions have the same hashes for the same versions?
http://libdrc.org/docs/re/changelog.html

And are all NTSC systems (JPN/USA) and PAL gamepads interchangeable?
In other words are both the DRH firmware and the DRC firmware considered All Regions?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
