I edited your topic because it's not only UK launch today, its the European launch (and Australian too?)

we received our Wii from Amazon
smile.gif
and Argos cancelled our order (well they said they wouldn't deliver on time.) good thing we ordred two!
but aww shaun is away from home (why the hell did he have to go out just now
biggrin.gif
) so I can't open the parcel.

By the time the official UK launch of the Wii was over, people were still joining the queue at GAME. Demand was that high. Although HMV was Nintendo's official partner for the launch, the fact remains that there were more Wii units in stock at GAME. GAME CEO Lisa Morgan says: "We're the number one specialist, so you wouldn't expect anything different. I feel we are very much the partner for our customers."

"We will ensure that customers in the queue go home with a machine, and when we get to the point where we haven't got machines we'll make sure customers are not kept out in the cold," Morgan pledged. This, pledge despite the lines extending far around the block, and still growing after midnight.

It's also good that GAME understands that the Wii is a hot product. Although they haven't received any confirmation as to when they will receive their next shipment of Wiis (supposedly they'll get another batch next week) they assure that as soon as they do get stock, it will be turned around and will be in stores the next day.

First few people in HMV Oxford Street (UK) the queue on Tuesday 5th December, 50 hours before the console launches.

"With only a matter of hours left before London welcomes the Wii, more and more people are lining up outside HMV on Oxford Street for them to secure a spot in the line.

The first four blokes in the line proved to be lucky thus far, as they were handed out a limited edition Wii watch. If only the watch would also serve as an absolute guarantee for them in the official Wii queue. Oh well, we guess they'd just have to play it by ear then. At least they could always say they got the Wii watch. But here's the catch: they'd have to give up their quest for the Wii since they have the watch already.

Anyways, there are 200 units available in the store on launch day, so you better cross your fingers tight that you make it in that quota. And don't go loitering about the line, 'cause you just might get picked by Ian Wright, Pat Cash, Jodie Kidd and Ricky 'The Hitman" Hatton to play against before the official launch of the Wii."

You are not going to believe this. I've got 3 PAL Wiis in front of me. Signed for all the boxes and thought it was odd there were so many. Opened the first one and it was a Wii. Opened the second... it was a Wii.

I shouted the delivery driver and he said just to call Argos about it. Got back in and looked closer at the labels and realised two of them, including one I'd half opened, had other people's names on, but by then the guy had gone. Called Argos (cos I'm an honest chap you know) and they're giving me a £5 gift voucher and refunding my delivery costs. They're picking them up from me on Monday, so there are going to be some disappointed people today.

Report From Ireland!

Wii - Sold out EVERYWHERE. Picked up my prebook from Smyths at lunch just there and was told to "be careful on my way home" (??). Well the shop is in a dodgy area
smile.gif

Anyway, they got no shipments of WiiMotes or Wii Play, so I tried, GAME, GameStop and HMV - none of them received any stock of WiiMotes or WiiPlay. What the hell is going on? One player wii for everyone in Ireland. Not Good Nintendo

This morning, 8:20 at the mall, the local Micromania had assured me they'd be open at 8:30, so I figure, I can do some "soft camping". The fuckers were already open.

But oh, Wii Sports, you were so worth it.

(funny thing is, I went there with a whole bag of used GBA games, and that paid for like half the tab. I was pleasantly surprised, although they only had extra Wii Play copies if you want a Wiimote.)

My seller opened at 9h, I went there at 8h15 and was 2nd for only 9 Wii to sell.

And me too, only Wii play if you want an extra wiimote.
but not any nunchuk available :/

I was in a smaller city. I was in the front of the virgin megastore, there was about 50 people waiting at 7am. The virgin was serving the breakfast for free

.
20 meters next to the virgin is the Score Game (the french UK "Game") where I pre ordered mine. The shop owner didn't told to many people that he would open his shop at 8am (instead of 9:30) and I was the first to get a Wii. We were about 10 people for 150 wii.

Its the curse of being an early adopter. You either can't get something or they sell out quick. It could have been worse, you could have got at extra wiimote but no wii
