Hacking Wii connect 24, safe to turn on with 3.2?

I feel really stupid asking this but here goes, I purchased a new Wii last week and it came with version 3.4 firmware. I downgraded via the twilight hack to 3.2 and have installed Starfall with the following hacks:

Replace healthwarning with backmenu (Not installed)

Region free GC games with video patch (Not installed)

Region free Wii games (Installed)

Region free channels (Installed)

No mainmenu BGM (Not installed)

Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller (Installed)

Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check (Installed)

Skip disc update check (Installed)

My question is, I thought leaving WiiConnect 24 was bad as it it autoupdates your Wii firmware ? The reason I am asking is that I would like to play online with my friends but cannot at the moment as I cannot add them to my friendlist as WiiConnect 24 is turned off. So is it safe to turn it on now I am on firmware 3.2 ?

Also I did something really stupid, I put a game disc in the wrong way....I know I know >

I've always had it on without a problem, I turned off standby connection though for gpu reasons

No sym autoupdates itsellf many people had check it even in the sym 3.4

It's safe in that it won't update itself... but as suggested earlier, it's a bit questionable with regards to overheating your wii and hurting the GPU.

I have standby connection off, but wiiconnect24 on.

I turned it off as I do not use it, and the Wii shuts off faster.
