I'm going to get a 3DS on the 12th of August. Will I need a DS/DSLite/DSi/DSiXL to use the Supercard DSTwo at all?
Depends on if the shop you get it from applies the latest update or not.
But if it doesn't, I can use a fat DS to update it though right?

actually, I think the DSi mode part is wrong. my R4i 1.4 can play in DSi mode just fine. It's a clone though, so it may have just come with that feature. it plays pokemon black in widescreen in a dsi and plays normally on a ds.

You're kidding, right?

The DSi has the EXACT SAME aspect ratio AND resolution as the DS.

Figured I'd post here. Looking to get a new flashcard for a few reasons.

I have a M3 Lite that was a trooper for many years but has expired.
I have a M3 Zeroi which no longer works on my DSiXL since it's at 1.4.3U from transferring my DSi titles to my 3DS.
I have a CycloDS which was for my DSL whose battery now refuses to hold a charge.

Since my lite is dead I need to be able to update just via transferring files on the flashcard or some trick like the Zeroi had. From what I can tell the Acekard 2i requires a DS with firmware it works on to update. So that's out.
The M3 line is basically abandoned so they're out.
Supercard DStwo I don't actually know much about so I'm contemplating it.
CycloDSi Evolution is a mystery to me as is the DStwo
Not going to get an R4 clone

So keeping in mind that I need it to work on at least 1.4.3U which card should I go for? I don't care about bonus things, just the ability to play DS games. Leaning towards the DStwo since it seems to just be drag and drop firmware

The DSTwo can often update just by placing new files on the MicroSD.

Often, not always, so don't go haphazardly updating your firmware, and try to make sure the cart you get is updated by the shop before they ship it out.
Do you know if what they ship with would work on 1.4.3U? Or at least whatever it's flashed to would be able to use a new kernel to work on it?

realhotstuff says theirs is flashed to 1.4.2 already, I just have no idea if you'd need to flash to work on 1.4.3U

the ONLY flash kit which can currently run in dsi-mode is the cyclops ievo. your flash kit might be able to run dsi-enhanced/hybrid roms but they are running in ds-mode and not dsi-mode.

Hi

Which card would you recommend for a 7 year old girl? In terms of ease of use?

Thanks in advance for any help.

(edited to add that she has a DS lite)

An R4i Gold with the Wood firmware or an Acekard 2i with the AKAIO firmware can lock the start menu and such so she can just run games and not edit/delete any settings.

I'm going to be picking up either a DS Lite or DSi (most likely a DS Lite) next week and I'm in a funk as to which cart I should be buying. If I'm going to be using a DS Lite, (Mainly for playing Pokemon Black/White and SoulSilver/HeartGold, New Super Marios Bros, The Legend of Zelda games) should I buy a dedicated DS Lite cart, or do I buy a DSi cart to use for the DS Lite? I'm looking at the Acekard 2i, Acekard 2.1, and the CycloDS Evolution. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Actually after doing some more reading through months of old threads (...lol) I'm stuck between the Acekard 2i and the DSTWO. I think my problem isn't so much which has more functionality, but which is of better production quality. These posts about contact issues with the ak2i is what's making me lean towards the DSTWO even though I'm not really going to be using the GBA or SNES emulators.

A DSi cart will work on the DS Lite fine.

And yeah, many people decide between the DSTwo and the 2i. The 2i's contact issues are a simple physical fix, whereas the DSTwo has it's own physical issues due to size depending on your DS (I've heard it's not an issue in the Lite).

Hello I'm 100% new to the video game hacking. So please be patient and understanding

.

Now with that out of the way.

I have a DS lite and Ive been looking up flash carts but bein new I really don't know which is good for me. I really basically just want to play the pokemon white delux I found on here. I doubt I'd play anything else. After looking at the chart I gathered that the two best options are 1.the Ismart mm and 2. Cyclods ievolution. Is that correct?

Also im not sure what the Auto ap bypass is or the free cheat on the chart?

And finally I saw that there was a ds games category, ds games and DSi games category, and a DSi games category. What's the difference? And Which is pokemon black/white??

Sorry and thank you!!

if you just want to play ROMs get the R4 or R4 DSN and use Wood by ywg (yellow wood goblin)

the features are explained right below the chart

ds games = ds games

dsi games = ds games that have extra features that are only for DSis (or DSi exclusive games, there are rare, and DSi game compatibility doesn't matter for a DS lite either)

If you just want to play one game, a basic cart like the Acekard 2i or R4i Gold should work.

The categories are explained below the chart.

i am about to get a DSi as my first handheld tomorrow. I am leaning towards the acekard 2i. I only plan on playing ds games and dont care about gba or snes or any homebrew media players or e books. for just NDS GAMEPLAY, does the Supercard dstwo have any good gameplay perks not counting emulation or homebrew that make it worth double the price of the acekard?
I am also confused about DSi mode.... i am probably wrong but from what i read in this thread, if your flash card has DSi mode, it can load NDS roms on your DSi in DSi mode, using the extra cpu/ram power and run the games better?

sorry for the noob talk

I use my DSTwo over my Acekard 2i for the ability to toggle and tweak cheats while the game is running, save/load state, and sometimes the slowdown option... along with the in-game guide reader. If you don't care about those than the Acekard 2i will do fine.

And yes, that's what DSi-mode is, but it only works for properly-dumped DSi games, and there's not many.
