Hey everyone - looking for some solutions here.

I haven't use the EZ Flash IV in a while, so I decided to update the firmware from a v1.7x to the latest which would've been v2.05. After following the steps and holding down R, there were times where it would hang at the updating screen, sometimes would go into a black screen, and on my final attempt holding down R again on the SP and now it goes to a white screen. After that I tried once more and putting the cart into the GBA SP, now kills the power instantly. No boot.

I even tried using my FlashGBX, it doesn't even detect the cart type, however I am able to back it up.

What are my options? Is this cart dead? Should I even bother recovering it?

Would've been nice to have another flash cart handy, but oh well. Not the end of the world if I can't use it.

Tl;dr
  • EZ-Flash IV hardware revision 1.7x
  • Failed firmware flash via SD card, stuck at writing0%
  • Cart now kills SP on insertion
  • FlashGBX v4.6 can read/backup successfully but throws "no compatible profile" on write
  • ROM checksum reads as 0x59450445
  • Data loop detected at 0x4000

Are you sure this isn't the FAT16 versus FAT32 issue? The old firmware 1.x needs the SD to be FAT16, but once flashed to 2.x it must be a FAT32 formatted SD.
