Hacking Where's the best place to start with learning all this?

I've read the sticky here and poked around the guides on Wololo. Any other required reading before attempting to mod a Vita? plenty of time to read so more links the better please.
Are there any obvious 'gotchas' that noobs fall into? (apart from the obvious one of 'connect to the PSN and update the firmware')

Aside from just generally browsing and trying to grasp a vague understanding of how everything works, that only other thing I recommend doing is watching a tutorial.

Pretty much just read a lot on Wololo. I know The Z or whoever it is on Wololo has posted a few video tutorials on youtube for various firmwares and homebrew installation methods, so finding old tutorial articles he's made on Wololo would probably be the best way to really figure out what you're doing.
