I withdraw the strawmanning statement as I read HIS post wrong. I was reading yours as there would be more exploits if more devs could buy consoles.. I though he was talking about the kexploit and not a console itself. My bad. I can admit when I'm wrong.
And while it may be speculation, it is a very good possibility that I was only presenting as an alternative reasoning to keeping things private. I would actually blame devs less for bounties as I really wouldnt blame then for wanting to get rewarded for finding the vulnerabilities.
Furthermore anyone who mods their consoles without accepting the risk of a ban really deserves zero sympathy when they complain. This has been a calculated risk since day one. If everyone in the world withheld things because stupid people could get in trouble, then the world would be very very boring and empty. I just dont see this as an acceptable excuse.
While I agree, the devs are already in an uproar about piracy, they are not going to allow piracy online where people will be hacking games, and articles will be release everywhere about the mass bannings, which as I said will bring heat on the community, it will get the exploit patched faster, and likely cause sony to up security, update more often, or even cause another geohot situation, ect.
I didn't say that it's a quote from "Mathieu" himself and he doesn't care if we struggle to get our hands on hack-able consoles. The only thing he will say is "I told you not update" I'm sure most of us know a release wont make any sense now, we just
official updates of a release in the near future. As I said on the 1st page all we can do is speculate riding on a ghost hype train, I'm still going to buy a 5.05 console b/c this scene does things unannounced aside from the teasing
Updating, and not being able to get a hackable system doesn't really go hand in hand though, I mean that does nothing for someone who just found about the exploit, and didn't ever own a ps4. It's statements like that from devs that don't exactly promote growth with in a community if they care about it at all.
