i just copy pasted my atmosphere on a 256 microsd card but i forgot that it is initially formatted as exfat. want to know whats the best way/software and settings format the sd card and if i should redo my copy paste i did earlier
im on windows btw
I just curious as to why 32kb cluster is recommended? I never heard or thought about that really, tbh. Makes me want to go back and reformat my card now, to make sure I used the 32kb cluster.

By default nintendo systems use like the wii u and 3ds use 32kb over the years, you can use large cluster but more space get taken up by the cluster size, 3ds see a benefit of using 64kb cluster if you shut off and turn on the 3ds a lot due to faster boot time.
afaik, the switch's allocation size doesn't matter. I tested it, and the same amount of space was available for both 32 and 64. I think more space is taken up with 64KBs like on the vita.

Vita actually need 64kb cluster because 32kb cause a problem not showing the correct available space if you compare it to what it show on computer when you mounted it and what like vitashell and molecular shell shows.

Ctcaer did probably the worst explanation ever.
Lots of water and no substance. Classic god-emperor сommunication with dirty peasants: https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/issues/567
Although here it can be understood, he is the dev there. If you don't want it, don't use it.

By the way, if there is anyone who communicates more closely with Ctcaer (maybe other developers who hang around this forum)?
What if to ask a person to descend to the aspirations of the afflicted and in his stellar wisdom make a good, suitable SD card partitioner+ formatter tool for the miserable Windows platform. With FAT32 for SDXCs, choice of cluster size, alignment offsets, new standards (tm) and everything else.
Even without GUI, a simple command line utility would suffice.
The thing would be in demand.

There is a lot of substance to his claims and i did confirm them with benchmarks. If you want to know more search for "Part 2 Filesystem Specification". I can't link this because it's a leaked, confidential document. It explains how SDFormatter formats cards.

I have to agree with you that CTCAER is like that sometimes. but it also always depends on how you ask the question and if he had a good day. but he really knows better.
I appreciate him and his knowledge very much and he always helped me when I had a problem or a question.
I've already asked him about a formatting tool, but he's not interested in implementing it.
Format it in Hekate, when you partition SD card before creating emuNAND, it will format your SD card, no need Windows or MacOS or any software to format SD card.
