Personally, I can't think of any reason not to use BizHawk for any of the platforms it supports, except for the odd rom hacks here and there that only work on less accurate emulators.

Because some people want accurate emulation and BizHawk is made for speedruns not for 100% accurate emulation.
I wonder why no hardware emulator for Nintendo 64 exists, might have to get one of those things to load roms into a N64.

You don't put "BizHawk" and "inaccurate emulation" together in the same sentence.

http://tasvideos.org/BizHawk.html

BizHawk focuses on core accuracy and power user tools while still being an easy-to-use emulator for casual gaming.

It needs to be as accurate as possible, for tool-assisted runs to be reproducible on console.

It also needs to be as accurate as possible for speedrunning, because most speedruns are not valid if played on emulators that have inaccurate timings (although the specifics differ depending on the particular game being run.)

The more complex and more functions a device has, the more likely is that it will fail and not work as well as a device that does a single thing.

Specific emulators that focus on a single or fewer devices tend to be more accurate.

There is not a single emulator out there that does 100% accurate Nintendo 64 emulation, not even the ones Nintendo uses. And that's with emulators dedicated to a single system.

Understandable, have a nice day.

Is 2021 so a brief updare:

Nes

FCEUX

http://fceux.com/web/home.html

Nestopia Undead Edition,

http://0ldsk00l.ca/nestopia/

Nestopia is the best if you want accuracy, FCEUX is best if you just want to play the games.

With the rest there are not many news. Nintendo 64 only has two emulators nowadays, well three but one went patreon only.

Sega Genesis emulation has got quite impressive but also many emulators gor discontinued.

BlastEm has not been updated since 2019 for example.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze

    so..... yeah

we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
