Ways of cleaning a USB port?

I'm considering cleaning the USB charging port of one or two of my devices. But I worry about electrocuting myself or shorting the system. Therefore I was wondering if there's a decent way of cleaning it that doesn't involve any liquids. I was also wondering if there exist micro USB jacks that are basically just made of something like Swiffer material rather than metal. When I say that, I'm reminded of these:

oh, I just had an idea. At school when I was really little we used these things called pipe cleaners for arts and crafts. I always thought it was odd they were called that since I've never seen them being used to clean anything. BUT NOW THIS SHALL CHANGE!
