Hacking wat flashcard do i get for a ds!???

hey guys,

ive modded my wii for a while now and i thought that i might delve into nds homebrew and flashcards. I have read all the offical threads on flash cards and from what i have got out of it; Acekard and R4 are the better cards, please correct me if so.

i have a old school ds, will this mean i cant use some cards? and when i purchase one how do i use it??

could someone please help me with this dilema it would be most appreciated.

Any Slot-1 flashcart will work on your DS Phat.

It's simple, let me break down what I think are the best three choices:

Original R4DS: A simple solution, it's only $6 and can play most DS games pretty much perfectly, and can do DS homebrew like most others, that is when you install Wood R4. But you're limited to 2gb, and no DSi support.
Acekard 2i: A standard solution, only $15 and when you install AKAIO, it'll play most games and homebrew perfectly. It also has a homebrew soft-reset, supports SDHC and DSi systems.
Supercard DStwo: A premium solution, it's $35 and has an integrated processor that can do very advanced and exclusive homebrew like GBA emulation, SNES emulation, DivX playback and more. Again, this has SDHC and DSi support.

If I were you I'd think about getting the DStwo, because an exclusive homebrew scene, might evolve for it.

Just to clear things up, SDHC means you can use more than 2gb of memory, and you should only buy an original R4DS. All other R4s are clones, fakes, and imitations not worth your money.

Please don't get an R4. Please. The official card is old, outdated, unsupported etc.

You can still put use to old R4's with R4 wood, but you'll be better off getting an acekard.

It's good enough if you can only spare $13 at the most, for the R4 and 2gb memory.
Wood R4 can do a lot of what AKAIO does, except SDHC or DSi support.

Please, save yourself the trouble and get a supercard DStwo. Its currently the best card out, and isnt extremely expensive. Dont buy an R4. Any other card is better than the R4.
EDIT: If you need a cheaper option than SCDS2, Acekard is what you want to get.

I take it that its a big no no buying off ebay due to scammers and fake cards?

just got a flashcart from there and it took 1 and a half weeks to receive it here in Australia!
btw it's a partner site of GBAtemp!
EDIT: the site is set in Hong Kong but is very reliable! ask almost anyone here on the 'temp

Yeah, definitely don't buy off of ebay, for one I don't think they allow sale of flashcarts anyway.
Definitely buy from Shoptemp, they're reliable, and have competitive prices.

also i will probs buy all the pokemon games from the store (cause im just like that), this card wont affect them at all?? i would hate for one of my games to stuff up, and from my understanding the ds will only be 'hacked' when i have the card in?

Yeah, there's no reason for the flashcart to affect any of your retail games at all.

ive just had a look at what its going to cost me for the micro sd, card plus postage and i dont think its worth 60 bucks due to the lingering release date of the 3ds (i am a student

), so i reckon i might grab the acekard, is the acekard idiot proof like the supercard (supercard being ready out of the box)

Shoptemp does not have the best deals on MicroSD cards. Not to knock them or anything, but you can find them waaaaayyy cheaper other places. I just got myself an 8GB MicroSD for 9 dollars the other day.
