Well I have one of those Hori screen protectors but one problem. I have a phat DS not a DS lite!

Skyline969 said:Yeah, I think I got fakes from DealExtreme. They have the English text on the labels you peel off of the protectors and they're absolute crap. The one got what feels like a crack in it (either that or a VERY deep scratch) from just the mere application of the protectors. That one, unfortunately, is on the touch screen. When I run my stylus over it, it definitely feels like a crack though. After a mere day of use, the touch screen's protector also looks fairly scuffed and is distorting the colors on the screen (A shade of red shows when the screen is white). I guess that's what I get for buying the screen protectors for less than $3 though....
Ah, I see now. I thought it wasn't much of a problem, not like the flashcards, but now I know. Thanks for inform me! ^^ Gah, I'll just buy them in walmart or something...it's less hassle ._.QUOTE said:There is a HUGE difference between fake and genuine Hori protectors. For one, the fake ones scratch extremely easily and is not that smooth. Your stylus doesn't glide across easily as with the real ones. The fake ones I got from ebay got scratched pretty much every time I slide my stylus across gently. The fake ones are not 100% clear either, they have a slight brownish tint to them.
Another difference is that the real one has a different type of protector for the upper and the lower screen. The upper protector is a little stiffer and reduces glare a little, which improves screen contrast. The lower protector is slightly textured to prevent scratches. The upper and lower fake ones are made of the same cheap plastic.
Also, I've noticed some fake ones are very dirty even before you peel off the protective backing. There are dust particles already inside there so it will look terrible when applied.
Bottom line is don't skimp on the protector. Pay a little more for Genuine Hori. You can get them from Play-Asia (japanese hori) and Amazon (nintendo branded hori).
thats true but it feels better buying from a reliable brand, i have hori screen protectors and i got it from DX and they are holding up 2 years now and they have extra gloss for the screensnando said:thanihonjinballa said:damn people if you guys all care so much about buying legit Hori protectors, just buy it for 7.43 at DX. You know if it matters to you that much, its worth the time and probably money to get the genuine one, as you might have already gone through a couple of fake ones already.
it's just a different of 6$ for a fake vs a real one. 6 lousy dollars.
i for one am super happy with the fake ones and 6 dollars may not be a lot of money but it is a lot of money for a piece of plastic. when the product costs as much to produce as it's packaging then you can't help but to feel ripped off.
