I did the upadte last night and it took quite a while. Every thing went ok and all still works fine. The only problem i had was hbc was upside down but i just has to reinstal ios 36 with no patching and its back to normal.
It added a lot of new ios,s which is why it takes so long to download and install. But all hbc and usb loading works fine and the new hbc is cool with new features.

Now I'm having a issue with:

[+] Installing "System Menu 4.2U", please wait...
>> Installing content #135... ERROR! (ret = -1010)

By using the network method. My Wii is 4.1U (updated officially), I have the HBC 1.0.5, DVDX 2, used HackMii 0.5 and softmodded my console. I think that's it. Any ideas?

EDIT: also, I used IOS249 for the installation.

Im getting 'ERRORZ! (ret=-1)' at various points during installation. -1 error is invalid SD/USB device I believe. Im using a compatible 2gb SD which I use for installing all other apps (inc Wani updaters). I formatted it twice but still no luck. Currently on official 4.1E

Why bother to update nothing worthwhile for features and any games that require 4.2 you can brickblock and patch and still play.

Hell I'm still on 4.0 fw.

lol!

well, that's WAD manager, yes
wink.gif

you place your WAD files in SDroot\WAD
you place the wad manager in SDroot\apps\wad manager

I just loaded up my wad manager to check if/where the option to set IOS is, there isn't one, it uses the cIOS.

how did you update to 4.2? have you uninstalled the stub IOS249 and reinstalled cIOS38rev14? if you did that, you should be able to install wads again...

With all the bricks, what Waninkoko is doing is useless, Nintendo will roll a new version to fix all of the 4.2 brick problem soon anyway.

why the big rush all of a sudden to update to 4.2 what does it offer? nothing
correct, 4.2 actually retracts features, as far as im concerned.

it may well do but (a) Wanin's 4.2 installer works fine and gets you up to date (whilst keeping all existing functionality) and MORE IMPORTANTLY stops someone else accidentally updating the Wii the official way which is far harder to recover from (if not impossible ?) than installing Wanin's 4.2

I've just installed this on a virgin 3.1 Wii using these steps:

1: Install 3.2 update from a disc patched with WUM
2: Install HBC, DVDX and BootMii with HackMii Installer 0.5
3: Run Waninkoko Firmware Updater 4.2

HBC was fine before step 3 but now the picture and controls are flipped upside down. It seems to be some sort of piracy related easter egg in HBC but the only apps installed are GeckoOS and WiiSCU.

Found a fix - posted by davide71 at http://wiinewz.com/forums/wii-hacking-and-...ry-strange.html
Thanks!
