This is a strange one, and I'm a bit confused.
To start with, I set my PAL WiiU to 480p using the component cable in the WiiU system menu. I then got the built in menu up on my TV to monitor the current video mode.
In WiiU mode, it displays at 480p.
When it boots into vWii, it instantly goes to 576i.
When I then load USBLoader GX, it switches to 480i.
If I use system default when launching a game, it launches it in 480i.
If I use disc default, it launches in 576i.
However if I force PAL480p, it simply loads in 480i.
I'm incredibly curious why it is doing this, especially considering this implies that the internal resolution vWii is running in when using 1080p and an HDMI cable isn't infact 480p and is actually 480i. (That would explain the horrible deinterlacing issues I get in some games.)
In addition, I'm planning on getting an XRGB-mini for various reasons, and I was hoping to supply it with a 480p feed over component for playing vWii games. If I can't get this to work then I'll have to leave my normal Wii plugged in as well, adding to the clutter.
So... Does anyone have any ideas of how to actually get vWii mode + USBGX running both themselves and games in 480p? I'm out of ideas, out of everything I've tried I've yet to get a 480p signal from the WiiU in vWii mode. As I said, I do get 480p in WiiU mode, so I know my TV happily supports it.
If anyone could give me some advice I'd really appreciate it, the quality (or lack thereof) is really getting at me!
