iv transfered a lot of wads to my SD card. iv tryed several n64, genesis, wiiware and snes wads. the first three types all work but snes wads load black screen and crash the wii. the wiimote just blinks when pressed and i have to do a hard reset to get it back on. does anyone have any ideas whats up!?
ok, iv read quite a few posts now....looks like the general answer is "use an emulator!" which is kinda annoying as i just copyed loads of wads to my sd card and id asssumed that vc games were optimised for wii and gc controllers :(

Did the SNES wads run before you moved them onto the SD card? If they did, then you're probably missing a cIOS. I remember having to get an extra cIOS to be able to run any wads at all via the SD card... Sadly I don't remember which.

That aside, if everything but the SNES wads work, then emulation is actually a viable option. The Snes9x GX emulator is as good as perfect, so there's no need to worry about performance. You can map the GC controls however you want. Plus, not all great SNES games got a VC port (Yoshi's Island, just to mention one).

are you using haxchi, tiramisu or aroma?
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no, I'm asking which one of them you are using
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
in that case, there is no such thing as homebrew launcher for aroma
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
you have to launch your homebrews directly from the wii u menu
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
there is a plugin that display them on the wii u menu, pretty sure it is enabled by default
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    so like it doesnt exist
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    yeah
    ?
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
it doesn't exist, at least not for aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    ohhhhh
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
on tiramisu you can access it by opening mii maker
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    okay
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I don't have a wii u anymore to test it myself, but if homebrews are not visible on the wii u menu I think you can press L + R + minus to open the plugin menu, there should be an option called "homebrews on wii u menu" or something similar
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    nope
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
    it is L+dpad down+ select
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
but homebrew is appearing in the home menu btw
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
    yes, now I remember it
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
then it is working, I also don't like that they did this but it is the only option you have if you are using aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
i just didint know the homebrew launcher didint exist in aroma
  • crafthp434 @ crafthp434:
