Regarding Livin's issue: If removing a bunch of things from Emunand allowed it to work, then maybe it is a matter of Emunand taking actually Wii memory and not leaving enough memory for Brawl, and not any kind of a bug with USB Loader GX. The Wii only has 88 megabytes of RAM.
I insist on using them because they work flawlessly. I guess that makes me an idiot. But at least I don't read a few reports of people having trouble with a type of device and conclude that the device "don't play well" with the Wii. You know what people like me - who have been using them successfully for nearly a decade - don't usually do? Go up here and post questions like "I'm using a flash USB drive with my Wii and have for many years without a single problem, should I be worried that it will suddenly cause me problems?"
You don't hear from people who use them flawlessly precisely because we don't have complaints. You have only heard from the relative few people who had problems with them. Who knows why they did? Wrong CIOS? Bad flash drive from Chinese website? Inability to follow instructions and/or misconfiguring their USB loader? From that you have drawn a conclusion that in no way reflects reality. But go ahead and keep the myth alive.
And I'll keep using my flash drives with all three Wiis (plus the two that I made for my best friend and my sister back in 2012) successfully for another decade. Just like the vast majority of us who use flash drives with our Wiis.

Damn, that could very well be it.
Since it has to load the Channels into RAM for displaying them in the Loader.
Sometimes it even took a few seconds to load the screen on enabling Emunand channels. So far, at exactly 80 channels it seems fine.
I have too little knowhow how the USBLOADERGX works, but thats the first idea that at least tries to make technical sense of this error.
And yes, up till now, all games work. I wasnt able to reproduce the error anymore.
Wait so is emunand bad for the wii memory, or not? I’ve seen this debated for years now, some saying it wears out the Wii’s nand memory which shortens the wii lifespan... Two cents, anyone?
I dont have any issue using emunand... being stuck on an old version (1247, you can try with this). Newer versions for some reason work only with installed games and stop working if you are running a game on disc and I too use USBGX as a replacement for the lame System Menu.
Some tips: Use the cios nand on the SD card (I recommend class 10 16GB max cards, I found 32GB ones do work but they are a bit slower so they can be more unstable) and on the root of the drive instead of the usb drive or inside folders (you need to see some folders like title, meta, shared on the root of the drive), I had more reliable results with this especially on games with a lot of DLC like Just Dance. It doesnt lift the file limit size (technically it doesnt have one and only relies on the size limit of the Wii internal memory, but reaching a certain amount of songs makes the menu crash after a while, but it is way more than you can store on the nand originally)
I do wanted to know if emunand wears out or not, I dont think so because it seems like reading and writing content is bypassed from the nand to the card or drive, not writing things to the internal memory ar all, which is harder to replace than a SD card which can be easily backed up. If it was using the internal memory, the access could be faster, using caching, like some emulators like Not64 and the PS1 ones do. They had versions without using the internal NAND as caching and they were considerably slower than their newer versions which do use caching on internal NAND.
Okay so I tried this quite a few times (on my mac) and to be quite honest... I have no idea what the f*ck I'm doing If I was to supply the image that I want swapped out, is there any way you or anyone here would be willing to "recompile" the usbloader gx src for me? If not I understand, but figured to ask, just in case.
(I think) Ever since I updated USB Loader GX to 1271 my play counts are not updated. And I guess for this reason, games that are marked NEW are still NEW after I have played them.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

Hi. I softmodded my Wii yesterday following every single steps found on wii.guide . Hovewer, USB Loader GX doesn't recognise my USB sticks (I tried with two of them, and neither worked. Yes, I put them in Port 0.) . I suspected that my Wii for some reason couldn't read my USB sticks, but that's not the case, given that Nintendont has no problem booting a game from the USB stick. What happens is that USB Loader GX gives me the message "USB Device not initialized. Switching to channel list mode." My USB sticks are formatted to FAT32, 32k and I used Wii Backup Manager to move the WBFS files.

USB keys do not work well with wii (often black screen or does not start at all), prefer an external hard drive format in FAT32 and you will have better results.
Just try:
Change IOS 58 to 249 in the settings of your Loader, and see the result?
Try with wiiflow or Configurable loader v70, to see?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, changing the IOS from 58 to 249 had me stuck at "Initialise USB Device" and wouldn't continue. I tried with WiiFlow lite and it only recognised my SD card and not my USB. I couldn't download Configurable loader v70 because the download links found here are apparently broken.
Changing my USB to WBFS did not help either.
I'm sorry I keep bothering you, but I have no idea of what to do.

ATTENTION
Google closed its Googlecode service and USBLoaderGX is now hosted on Sourceforge.
As a result, the automatic update feature can't download files from googlecode anymore and will not detect new version located on the new host (sourceforge).
The current "USBLoaderGX windows Installer 1.8" is also based on googlecode website and will NOT install the latest version. A new installer might be released one day.
If you are using a revision older than r1257, you need to update USBLoaderGX manually.
Download the latest Official version available on our website.
Extract the file using 7zip or winrar to your device and replace the old files with the new ones.
If you are using the Full channel which is not maintained anymore, please follow this tutorial to replace it with the forwarder channel.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
There exists different (unofficial) modded versions of the loader. They are listed here for convenience.
- @fledge68 made a plugin mod, allowing wiiflow plugins to work on USBLoaderGX 1262 : r1262 plugin mod2
- @Badablek is maintaining a "tabmod" of latest releases : December 20th 2018 build, r1271+tabmod
Download All-in-one package v3.0 (r1180)(OLD VERSION!)
Contains the latest official release: The loader r1180, Latest channel and the forwarder v5.1 for wii only. Also contains the "forwarder.dol" for Priiloader.
Download the loader only (Current official version!)
Contains standard version of the latest official release only. No other file included, no forwarders, etc.
Note for WiiU users:
vWii Forwarder link update on 2014-12-05. Please download and install "v5.1 Fix" over your old v5.1 to get USB support from the forwarder.
WiiU forwarder Channel
You can install this WiiU channel on WiiU Menu to automatically launch the installed UNEO forwarder on vWii. (you need both)
This loader is based on the original by Waninkoko (v1.1) with many features of his v1.5. So far SD-support is not implemented for Wii games.
I hope we can grant most of your wishes and we will try to keep your suggestions in mind. Anyway we are thankfull for all suggestions and bug reports.

Released on 2012 05 12 You can find the complete changelog HERE
ATTENTION:
USB Loader GX Version 3.0 introduces a new auto-update mechanism which is not compatible with old versions. (The old host is offline)
If you are still using an old version of USB Loader GX, you need to update manually.
Download the latest version or use our easy installer for Windows available on our website.
You can also check how to install or update manually on our Wiki tutorial.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
New:
Added a new Layout: Channel grid mode! Channel grid displays games as channels and plays banner animations like the real Wii System Menu.
Channel grid mode and banner animation requires AHBPROT flags to load resource files directly from your Wii.
If you use an old HBC you should use our latest forwarder or update the HBC otherwise you wont have that support.
Added Channel launching from Emulated NAND. (big thanks to TriiForce guys and Miigotu)
Added GameCube games launching from SD Card through Dios Mios Lite (DML). (thanks to G0dLiKe, crediar, all DML devs and FIX94)

Added the possibility to boot USB Loader GX without an HDD connected (It will fall back to "Channel from Wii" title's origin).
Added an option to choose which Game Window mode to use between the old "Rotating Disc" or the new "Banner Animation".
Added the favorite level setting to the game settings since it is no longer displayed when using "Banner Animation" game window mode.
Added an option to adjust the screen size for overscan TVs (Use negative values to shrink the display).

Please Note your Wii needs Internet Access.
And you have to Re-Install your HOMEBREW CHANNEL because he needs IOS58 to work correctly (you can use the HackMii Installer for this).

So, I tried IOS58 Installer, then re-installed HBC. ULGX booted, however that's all it did. The day I'm allowed to update the thing is the day all H*** freezes over, so I'm stuck.
