Hacking USB Loader GX asking for reformat after game setting change?

I changed my settings on Super Smash Bros Brawl from cIOS249 to cIOS222 after reading it will correct the video playback error for the video gallery/end game videos. I hit 'save' and forgot to do a reset of the Wii, booted the game and it went black. Did a hard shut down and power up to reset, and then it said I needed to format my HDD that has been working perfect right up until I made that settings change. I have a US Wii 4.1U, USB Loader GX (not sure which version, and can't check now), and WBFS says I need to format the drive as well, it won't view it/my games. Is there anything I can do to delete SSBB itself, or undo that mess so I can use USB loader and my games again, without having to format and lose all my games? I've searched high and low for a common thread to no avail. Hope someone has a clue what to do, would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
