I've been searching around and I can't find anywhere what went wrong... so I'll just post the steps I've done.

-Loaded mSD onto computer
-Added new update for my flash cart (r4idsn)
-Started up DSiXL
-Start flash cart
-Hit update
-Turn off DSiXL
-Turn on DSiXL
-DSiXL states "Nothing inserted in the game card slot."

I've looked around and I've tried it on my old fat DS, same thing.
I've tried loading it onto the 3DS, but all it does is crash the 3DS completely that I have to take it out and hold down the power to turn it off.
I've tried also reformatting it with the Panasonic reformatter that a bit of looking around has said to do with the format option of: FULL(OverWrite) FORMAT, FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT ON

I'm not sure what to do. I've gotten this flash cart about 2 1/2 years ago. Maybe 3 now (it's been a while) and it has never had a problem other than the error of the flash cart not loading when I selected it (which has only happened once at least a year ago).

Can someone please help? I'm not sure where else to look.

Alright. I just bought a new flashcart, but I would like to use my old one at times.
The problem here is they're both two different flash carts. One is my R4 3D Revolution from r4idsn, and my new one is a R4 Gold 3DS Revolution from r4ids.cn

How do I fix my old one?

Put the firmware update file for the broken one onto the fixed one, and start the program up.

Then take the fixed one out of the DS/Lite, and put the broken one in.

Then tell it to start the update, and it'll write a fresh firmware/update to the broken one.

I've tried this, even followed the steps the site told me to do.
When I try to start the update it say:

Card Type:
System Ver:
Card Check Fail
Upgrading
Result Press Key_A again

Okay that time was my mistake but I just tried again. At 1st I tried on the DS XL and then the 3DS.

This time I picked up my very 1st released day 1 DS original and tried it out.
It gave me the same fail comment on that one as well.
Now I'm beginning to wonder what exactly I'm doing wrong now.

This is pretty much the steps I did.

- Get both flash carts.
- Have update for broken flash cart on the SD card.
- Have fixed cart into the old DS and turn it on.
- Head to the main menu and pick the patch update for the broken cart.
- Get to the update screen.
- Take out that flash cart and put in the broken one.
- Press B and see nothing happen.
- Press A and get the message "Card Check Fail"

Just to be sure, the DS you're using it on actually has a GBA cart slot too?

Also you may be using the wrong update file for the broken cart. Some sites have multiple cart models (older and newer), and they'll often put out different update files for the different models (might be why the check is failing).

Yeah it's the very 1st DS to ever be released on the 1st day with Super Mario 64 DS and other games.
The one with the GBA Slot and the weird menu and the silly clicking sound on the screen before you pick a game. That DS.

Also picking the latest update I got for the one I own which is the one for the 3DS which say "(for R4i DSN 3DS card only)"
Which also in the read me say: "In case of card broken(no card found, no Icon displayed): Using the patch: R4iDSN_3DS45_NDSi145_Patcha_NDSL.nds" which is the one I've picked. The other is said to be used if it's not broken and simply gives an error. Which isn't my case with this cart.

You mean an older patch?
Well I found an older patch on the site luckily which is "R4iDSN3DS_V144_Patch_NDSL.nds".
With this patch it allows me to press B for a Card Check and A to upgrade when the newer one I just press A.

This time when I press B I get

Card Type: Fail
System Ver:
Card Check
Upgrading
Result Press Key_A again

and when I press I I get

Card Type:
System Ver:
Card Check Fail
Upgrading
Result Press Key_A again

If you mean and older DS, this is the one I'm using: http://tinyurl.com/cmpa8gw
Which I got on November 19th, 2004 in Virgin Records. I don't think I can find an older DS than that.
Sorry if my english is bad.

Now, I also have the almost identical problem but on a 3DS XL. Powered off mid update. I actually had mine running(went from kirby icon to whatever the hell that new 1.4.5 one is (lets call it Desu Desu explosive bonanza) I know its a banner issue, but cannot get the dang patcher to register the card.

The DSi and 3DS do not allow cart swapping, you can't use them to reflash a broken cart from a fixed one.

I'm so sorry, I'm using a ds lite. I don't know why the hell I didn't add that. DS Lite, r4i gold 3ds confirmed C revision with Kirby is broken, and attempting repair with a R4 SDHC Silver (RTS Lite)

EDIT: I've made a new thread in the hopes of pulling a few more people into this. A bit more detailed if you have the patients and heart of gold to read my situation and throw some input.

DSlite cart swap fix for R4i gold 3DS failing. Lets figure this out.
