I'm actually a bit new to the rxtools thingy. So just copy-paste rxtools.dat? Some people extract the whole zip in sd but I don't do so.

Just switch the rxtools.dat. Oh and I tried it, can confirm it autoboots unless you press R!
Be sure you have the firmware.bin and the slot0x25KeyX.bin too

You should probably just stick to launching it from the internet browser

Definitely not I've double checked. I'm assuming this is something that shouldn't be happening.

Well, that is very weird then.. Where does it say that your SD is write-protected? Windows explorer? On the 3DS itself? I've never read about anyone having this problem after doing this.
Oh, no, that just means it's suppose to go on the main SD Card. Gateway users have a micro sd card that goes in the gateway cart, I was referring to that. I'll try to make it less confusing.

Read the Emunand section VERY carefully.
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
After reading, deleting any update nag, unlinking nands (if you want):
You must boot into rxMode and go into system settings.
It must say RX-E at the top beside your system version!!!
Once you are sure it says that, DO NOT EXIT! Instead, press Other Settings->System Update
Let it update. It should put you back into sysynand on your regular firmware after it's done, that means it completed.

i did all that but when trying to launch rxtools it wont start, it shows an error and asks to restart the console...
im assuming that to boot in to rxmode you have to launch rxtools first...

Yes... otherwise it would not have said RX-E in your System Settings.

Okay good. Open your internet browser and tap the Settings icon. Scroll down a bit and delete History and Cookies. Then press okay and then press the home button. Now open the internet browser again and try to launch rxtools

Edit: if it doesn't work, let the initial nintendo webpage load first before typing in launch.rxtools.net

Oh I see now why. The last digits in your system version is 10, so you don't have an exploitable browser. You're gonna have to downgrade first and launch rxtools from MSET and follow the tutorial from there. You can go back to 8.1 afterwards if you want
