Gaming Turn off WiiConnect24, turns off wifi too?

Just wondering... I don't like receiving messages from Nintendo and holding the power button for 4 seconds every time I want to shut off my Wii.

If I turn off WiiConnect24, what will be disabled?

AFAIK, it's:
Nintendo Messages
Other Channel Messages

Not Sure About:
Wifi
Channels needing wifi like everybody votes

Channels that use it like news and weather just don't scroll the updates in the banners. But wifi works fine, I never have connect24 on. Its a complete pile of shit

Does turning it off turn off messages from friends too? What happened if I got a message from a friend? (Wii Message Board)

    i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.
