Trying to update a pirated copy of windows 7 to 10 with KMSpico

Hi all, hope this topic is ok here, saw it talked about before.

I have a very old machine I want to bring to 10. Looks like this one was not activated or cracked but i'm trying to make this work I tried a few tools on it. I cam across KMS and it has issues. The interface is rather useless, just come up, does a few things, and closes. It leaves a log behind complaining about keys. Running the 10 upgrade says its not activated.

Here is the log, any one know what I can do here?

Screw traditional KMS and find online "MAS password 1234", there are better ways for 10+ given how its authors really insist in having everyone switch to their new spyware and giving them free licenses for that

really slick interface though, seems win 7 ultimate is a pain. Best I can do is

slmgr -ato
but every key I find is blocked. And it is not like I can buy one. What really pisses me off is my laptop came with a legal win7 but There is no key on the shell. I have installed 7 over a few times on it and I didnt have a disc so I put my pirated copy on it. If only I could get the key somehow.

kms does not work for win7 ult.

It should probably work with a fresh install of Windows 10, not an upgrade to it from Windows 7.

Can't you just run the Windows 10 installer and have it upgrade the current install through the installer?

Windows 10 ISOs are on Microsofts site.

ok found one but looks like another blow away the os and not update.

not really looking to do that. IS there no update from 7? Maybe I need to do 8 first



using the media creation tool I get

I see two main options,

1 (inject method) says does not support windows ultimate.
2 (online method) says does not support windows ultimate.

what is it about ultimate that you can not active ?

looks like win8 will keep files and apps, I guess I need to do that and then try 10 or 11.

You need to upgrade first. You can upgrade without entering a key. Then you'll want to do the digital/HWID activation.

upgrade to what? My issue is that I can't seem to upgrade to anything. Thought I finally found a win 8.1 iso that will let me do an upgrade ( figured this out today) and that was my plan. Going form a OS to a program written by children is not really what I want to do, it may cause my more troubles then I already have but if going to 81 is the only way, so-be-it. at least its not 8.0

Is there a reason you need to upgrade instead of a clean install of 10? If it's already old it's not going to run any better going through an upgrade. When I used to do the upgrades a lot it was always a gamble if it would complete and if it didn't would it be able to roll back. It was so much better to wipe, install 10, give it an old 7 key I have a pile of.

I was able to upgrade fine. Starter and Home Basic should be able to upgrade to Win 10 Home, and Home Premium and up should be able to upgrade to Win 10 Pro, IIRC. But I've only ever upgraded from Win7 Ultimate (and once from 8.1 Pro) so I might remember that wrong (maybe Home Premium can only upgrade to 10 Home, don't think so though)

I downloaded 10 and 11 from the iso maker page. Maybe those will work better.

That was my first tool, it does work for the OS, stops asking to activate, but the 10 upgrade starts and then fails. The log shows its because of a faulty activation.

I have a few systems all on ultimate I'd rather not like to do that on. It is a pain to re do everything and I have been there before. On the systems I do not care I already updated.

That was what I wanted to see. I though you possibly needed Service Pack 1. Not sure how to help at this point sorry. Hope what you found helps.

Ah, that could be it. Every time I did the upgrade, I ran the Media Creation Tool on the PC I was upgrading (and all of my Windows 7 installs were installed from the same ISO anyways, so even if I didn't, the same 10 ISO should work on all of them)
If you're doing an upgrade install, you should activate 7 beforehand (KMS38 should work, this is better than KMSpico since it doesn't require a program running on your PC regularly, it only needs to be ran once), I believe the free upgrade still works so it should activate to a legit copy automatically.
