I'm pretty sure you are having this problem because you have preloader installed. I was seeing "???" with preloader installed, but when I uninstalled preloader and replaced it with StartPatch, the names of my wiiware games were displayed.

Well... i had preloader installed time ago... but i unistall it with some aplication (dont remember wich one) However could be possible preloaded installed on nand dump xD for this reason your solution could be right.

Thanks anyway for your solution.

I don't have much VC or WiiWare but everything I've tried has worked so far, from real NAND or SD and USB. I have preloader and I'm not having any problems. Everyone having them, have you checked your wad sets with clrmamepro or the likes?

I can see why you haven't yet, but for the 1.0 release are you planning on this being able to do the NAND dump to SD/USB, or are you going to leave this to the user as a 'barrier to entry'?

I have one of these ??? channels too but i think it´s because it´s a japanes game and
Japanese games using other characters and you can´t show these characters in a console

tried to launch FFCC Life as a Darklord out of usb nand and ended up getting a Disc Read error message telling me to eject disc and restart my wii.... same result whether I had a disc in drive or not, not sure whats up with that.

Bonks Adventure VC booted fine though, this app definitely has great potential, once all the lock up issues with running from emulated nand are solved this will be great! Even better if down the road someone managed to merge this code into a usb loader, would be fantastic!

Took me a second to put together that I could scroll over, when it was displaying "???" for the first several channels (my emu forwarders), but once I figured that out, it loaded Ninja Gaiden Arcade flawlessly from emulated NAND.
No time for further testing this morning, but I'll try a bunch more in a day or two.

Newfag postin'

So let me get this staight: as of right now, TriiForce currently allows:

Emulation of the Wii's internal NAND, which in turn allows us to load channels (currently only VC/WiiWare) from a USB or SD card.

In the future, it could allow a mixed load from disc channel to allow us to place all our save games also on a USB or SD card, eliminating the need to even touch the real NAND.

Now, newfag questions!

What filetype does the USB device require? I'm assuming FAT32 or NTFS (i'm hoping NTFS works). I dont see it being WBFS 'cause i havent found any way to access WBFS partition files directly but i may just be missing a small program to do that (or can FTPii access and chance files there?)

does the 42 channel limit still exist during emulated NAND if running games from the USB? Will triforce only be able to have up to 42, or can i install all of my VC/WiiWare games? (i'm sitting around 60)

Will having other files on the USB drive cause issues, assuming i have the loadstructure for Triiforce correct? (in other words, do i need a whole new partition on my drive for this)

No mixing up with the disc channel. Devices need to be FAT. And currently we have a limit of 255 titles, we are too lazy to change it right now.

FAT32 or FAT , NO wbfs or ntfs

it doesnt have any limit so theoretical you could install 10000000 channel's

will this loader eventually be able to also run channels from the front-sd slot (that where put there by sysmenu 4.0/4.1)?
Because now it does list those channels, but can't run them.

thanks for the information. looks like i need a new flash drive, or another partition on my external HDD. My external HDD currently has an NTFS and a WBFS partition. If i add a FAT32 partition, will TriiForce recognize the proper partition to use?

Woah, why the hostility?

i'm asking a valid question. Alot of basic information hasn't been provided here. YES it's still in beta but before I go installing shit on my Wii, i want to know if it's even worth my time to participate in testing it.

My question is simple.

If my external has multiple partitions, will TriiForce recognize the FAT32 partition?

I'm using it with a WBFS partition and a FAT32 partition, so yeah I think it will if you set the fat32 partition as active

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
