It was good back then. They had originality. Lots of new Girls Groups and Boys Groups with distinguishable styles and genres.Second Gen 2008/2012 is when it started getting early mainstream.
Was good in the 90's when it was rebellious music against the governments monopoly control over South Korean music.
Back in the 80's there was only 2 tv stations in South Korea and government had tight control and censorship on what music aired.
Then government reformation happened in the late 80's. And 90's 1st gen Kpop started to do things and tackle genres that was not under approval of the gov years prior and started break previous barriers and allowed for more styles of music that was not approved years before.
Then gov got their filthy claws in Kpop to promote it world wide especially with second gen 2008/2012. That's when they sold their soul to the devil.
Modern kpop lacks originality. It was good back then. They had originality. Lots of new Girls Groups and Boys Groups with distinguishable styles and genres.
Nowadays is overrated.
you do realize by trying to epically defeat us, you gave us another opening, literally any japanese game can be a jrpg as any game can be an rpg.(JRPGs, before you say that anything can be classified as an RPG)
Modern kpop lacks originality.
But Loona's Butterfly exists, a cultural reset of a song. A mix of dream pop and future bass, a sound you don't really hear in the mainstream.
Theres alot less cutsey stuff from female groups of old and more confident female tracks nowadays. Loona straight up made a masculine track as a female group for one of their songs breaking traditional kpop gender norms.
Or some of the stuff Baek Yerin has been doing lately.
Lots of good kpop after the 2012 date. If feel like it's better then ever. Lot of the newer groups are pushing boundaries.
