I finally convinced my friend to go and get a copy of The World Ends With You. He eventually came back to me and said that it was 'a nice attempt at an RPG' He them went on to say how he disliked many things about the game. I could understand him just not liking the game, but he downright said that it wasn't a good game other than for the story line. What can i tell him to convince him otherwise?

Thanks,
DanWeb

Sounds exactly like me. Horrible RPG, but I love the story in it. The battle and overall gameplay is horrendous. Story is definitely one of the best in the DS's library though.

Let's take a sentence example from this site.
"The house was painted recently on November 18, 1999, so it looks as good as new."
The green part is dealing with something that's real and certain.
You can prove that the house was painted, and when it was painted.
The blue part is an opinion. Whether it looks good cannot be proven or disproven concretely.

It is possible to have facts about opinions, though. For example, if I asked 10 people what they thought of the house, and 9/10 said they liked it, I could say that 9/10 people liked the house. That would be a fact, that 9/10 people said it looked good.

He has the right to have a different opinion about a videogame than you.

i agree 100% with what rydian has to say. my opinion is that it is my favorite action rpg for the ds and 3rd favorite ds rpg and fifthe favorite ds game.

You lost me through that whole post until you said

"He has the right to have a different opinion."

Up until then, I had no idea what the hell you were talking about.

Was a decent game but not the #1 ds game as many people like to claim it to be but everyone has there own opinions, but honestly why does it matter if your friend likes the game or not...

Its an opinion. Not a big deal.
This is about a people not lining up with your expectations.

Personally i like the game.
That doesnt mean your friend has to agree.

I found it a struggle at first, until you get Joshua on the second week and the top screen battles become infinitely easier. Now I do think its one of the best DS games I've played, but as stated before thats my opinion and in my friend group I am in the minority

idk why but why do so many people like this game? i played it it was so annoying and boring

TWEWY has a steeper learning curve than your average games. I can understand why some wouldn't like this game. Took me a while to get it as well; what with fighting with both the D-Pad and the touchscreen. That alone cause chaos.

At least Joshua pawns all when he get his levitation, those light pillars are a killer!

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.
I didn't like the game, even gave it a try three times. However, I wouldn't try to convince others why they shouldn't like it either.

I could understand if you asked him, "Let me know what you think of the game" or "What didn't you like about it" and he rolled out this list for you.

Just keep in mind it's his opinion, everyone doesn't have to like it.

At first I thought I liked the whole game, but then it was just the storyline that kept me playing.

personally i like how twewy makes you control 2 characters at once, its fun. and i like the music, i've always like music. story's good too, for me it's pretty much a very good game.

@phoenixgoddess27 your avatar scares me

i think you guys have misinterpreted what i meant. He intentionally said that it wasn't a good game. It would be fine if he had have said that he just didn't like the game, but he said that it was just simply a bad game. How do you think i can change him from the stage of 'it is a bad game' to the stage of 'i just don't like it but i see how other people can' knowing that he will never move into the stage of 'this is the bast game ever'.

make him read this thread and let him understand how people have different thoughts about the game

You can't change what a person thinks of something, no matter how hard you try. It's up to them, just tell them what you think. If they still have the same opinion, there's nothing you can do about it.

I lol'd after reading this, honestly, lots of people in this thread have the correct idea but I like Rydian's response because it explains everything, take this for example: Boy_1 says he likes apples, and Boy_2 says he hates apples, these two statements are opinions, if Boy_1 says to Boy_2 that he has to like apples, well what do you think Boy_2 will do?? He won't change his opinion just because someone told him too as it's his own decision...
