I'd like my Wii to suck my c*** whenever I feel like it

Face it guys, some things aren't just meant to be...
But the 6x speed backup reads could be done.

I don't know what freaks me out more...
The comment or your avatar....

Anyway The 6x loading speed can be done sooner or later, but I would like to see the GC support first.
There is a game I wanna try, but it cost over $100.

so far the only thing I would love see get created is a homebrew app/tool that would allow you to extract all your game saves at once instead of having to do it 1 at a time.

i would take usb2.0 over 6x backups

why do you need usb 2.0 ? there is basically nothing running on those usb ports....except mics and rock band instruments...

if we could use external HD to look ISO that would be wonderful though

Those aren't really "breakthroughs" if they can be done using a modchip.

Making a custom system menu is really all that is left for softmods.

Loading games/homebrew off the HDD is the next step for hardmods.

3 things...

1) there are a LOT more than 2 things left... we have custom "dashboards" to look forward to, USB2.0, External HD loading, bypassing the internal NAND and going to an external drive, Gamecube backup loading, 6x softmod reads, and many other things.

2) give up on the 6x softmod reads... I know I just said it's something to look forward to, but in all honesty, it probably will not happen. The more likely will be softmodded USB HD support for loading ISO's.

3) For those that liked FRantic's avatar, here's a much bigger version:

Image is here... won't let me hotlink
Click the link, then go to your address bar and hit enter... site doesn't like hot linking AT ALL!

That's what said about putting a man on the moon. It's very possible until someone can explain why it's NOT possible.

Is the 6x reading really that big of a deal? It really hasn't had an effect on my gaming. Sure it would be great if it could be done, but if we are talking about major breakthroughs then there are bigger fish to fry

actually achieving 6x drive speed isnt that big of a problem. sure its drive firmware related, but it is not to unlike the firmware mods for the xbox 360.
It is very unlike the firmware mods for the XBox 360. The 360's drive firmware is permanently flashable, the Wii's is not. Your turn.

Yes, it would be nice for the loading screens to be faster. Also, you are missing the point that the Wii can be fully hacked and function the same and the non-backups with out having to buy hardware, hence the mod chip.

Just because there are other breakthroughs doesn't make this less importing. Being able to use an external USB 2.0 HDD to play ISO's would be nice, but most people are happy burning DVD-R's. According to your logic that wouldn't be a big deal.

Then you mis-understand my "logic", as you say. I'm not missing any points. My idea of a major breakthrough is loading an .iso game either off an external drive or sd card and not making a game load a few seconds quicker. I'll take the longer load time to have a few sips of beer before Call of Duty starts

My wish list:

1. N64 Emulator that works well (which I hear might be coming)
2. ISO Loading from external source (HDD/SDHC)
3. Application to create custom dashboard with custom images/channels
4. USB 2.0 (which I doubt will happen)
5. Web Browser with keyboard/mouse support (not really a big deal, but would be nice)
6. whatever else yall wanna add!

=D
