OP
A public beta for the english translation of The Legendary Starfy has been released!
You can get it over at Romhacking.net.
This is a translation patch for the first entry of the Starfy Saga released September 6, 2002 in Japan for the GBA.
Development started late in the GBC´s life cycle, the game was ported over to the GBA instead.

This is not my work! I just posted it here.

Yep. And Googling for the filename doesn't find it, either. The Wayback Machine also apparently archived the page that had the links, but did not archive the files themselves. That sucks. WTF happened?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Recent site activity on that Google site shows:
" Feb 7, 2020, 1:32 PM ChickasaurusGL Evie deleted attachment Densetsu no Starfy incomplete fan translation IPS patch (August 19 2017).ips from Densetsu no Stafy translation project"

If you search for KBHGames and Starfy, you will find that they have some kind of in-browser GBA emulator that contains an English version of the game ROM, but I have no idea what version it is. You can extract the ROM by viewing the information on the GBA emulator...I downloaded it and tried it on my DSi XL, and it is functional, but again, I have no idea what version of the patch they used.

It would be sweet to have this on the cartridge with English art on the game and box! As well as the other 3 games.

So, he "felt emotional over the whole situation". Because of this stupid behaviour, we MAY lost this translation.
I make a backup for this patch at google drive, but I dont have a permission for links posting now, sorry.

@Dodain47, looks like the patch is back up.

YouTube comments, Torchickens:
"I felt emotional over the whole situation, I'm really sorry. I've added what should be the latest back, as these are in IPS form; so should be information only."

When'll Starfy 2 be done?
"I'm unsure yet sorry, the project went dormant datamining how text is stored. I'll forward it on."

Progress Update:

Stages 1 through 9 are all translated. Unfortunately one of the text boxes early on is bad (perhaps due to a glitch it doesn't show, or it was not translated). There are a few glitches introduced in the translation (text from the wrong location entering text boxes, graphical corruption of the screen), and embarrassingly quite a few typos still, otherwise it's playable.

@SylverReZ, the other game where I found newgrounds is new york shark

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made

Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, or well only the demo with mindchamber's style was on newgrounds

Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.

@The Real Jdbye, Yea but it has a shitton of mods with their own songs and stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and quite a lot of people involved in those mods get cancelled

Newgrounds wasn't the birth of FNF; rather, it was games where you beat up celebrities and parodies.
